Let's just stick a "we can't show you this" slide up during the programme bits of GMB on +1 and just show the adverts. That's what ITV used to do when they launched their +1 services before they had rights to repeat shows on them so it wouldn't be an unprecedented occurrence...

That may be the best option, if not a clearer caption. I understand the need for +1 but surely it's not a great idea to delay live news programmes by an hour anyway. There's a rule about pre-recording news isn't there? The principle is the same here.

Or just even make the +1 DOG bigger? It's so small and unreadable in that small dot, yet it's probably the only DOG out there that you could legitimately say serves quite a useful purpose to all other DOG's.

They could put a scrolling caption on ITV+1 during GMB saying . . .

"This is ITV+1. It's the main ITV channel repeated one hour later so it's one hour behind the main ITV channel. That's why the clock is an hour slow. You thick morons!"

Thick morons would still complain ... because they're thick morons.

Oh so screw you morons then. Rather than attempt to make improvements which might avoid the confusion?

RDJ's right, the DOG is tiny, and we're in an age where you don't even have to touch a remote control to turn on a TV. It needs to be clearly signposted, particularly when delivering 'live' news and information.

GMB isn't just news though, it is? It has other features which people might miss and therefore want to catch up or record on +1 (which is the point of the channel).

Covering up the clock is probably the best solution but they would have done it years ago if they ever were going to. They're probably quietly enjoying the free publicity that Good Morning Morons on Twitter gives them.
Watch it and find out.

No logical reason for watching GMB on +1 anyway.

I have to admit I occasionally watch GMB on +1 after 8.30 when the alternative is an interminably long sports bulletin on BBC Breakfast or something vapid about ladies' blouses on Lorraine.

I manage not to complain about the clock being wrong though.

I don't think that's the case anymore, given how many ITV sub-opts are pre-recorded.

I liked how Breakfast referred to the clip they showed just after 7am. I think they used the phrase "with an ITV journalist" or similar avoiding the words "Piers Morgan" and "Good Morning Britain". Presumably they were trying to discourage viewers from changing channel, despite the clip having all the GMB (exclusive) captions on it. I guess employing Piers Morgan has paid off for Good Morning Britain if they're able to get such exclusives.

Be careful Rav, you used to slag off Susanna Reid on here as "jolly hockey sticks" until she became your main presenter... Shocked
