That may be partly due to the original association of Good Morning Britain with TV-am.
It’s probably got more to do with the fact they never stopped calling it that.
People STILL call it TVAM

It's happened with presenters as well. Kate Garraway and Eamonn Holmes have both referred to it as GMTV (in Eamonn's case, he referred to GMB Today as GMTV Today).
The public often do it, coupled with not realising they are watching on ITV +1.
How are people still so bloody stupid?!
It doesn't even say 7:38.....

Search twitter for “GMB Clock” or “GMTV Clock” and it happens regularly.

I think it's because when people discover the clock is off, it's because they don't realise they left it on ITV+1 that night before probably.

In fairness its not entirely obvious sometimes that you're on ITV+1. Compared to the timeshifts for ITV2 and ITV3 at least where their +1 markers are considerably bigger than that on ITV+1.

Someone should tell these people that there's a channel called ITV -1. You lose an hours worth of programming but they always get the time right.

ITV+24 might be better. The time will always be right.

We've discussed this before, and it would be incredibly easy to cover the clock with an ITV+1 graphic. Or even a clear caption saying "You are watching ITV+1" top right or something.
It's clearly a common issue. It's first thing in the morning - we're all half asleep and they're the ones running a clock an hour slow on a +1 channel. They should be solving the problem and not just writing it off as people being thick.
