Anyone else think that the GMB set is starting to look worse for wear and slightly unkept? From the carpet underneath the sofa to the ‘walls’ looking slightly scratched. This is very noticeable on ITV HD. Not surprising for how long they’ve kept more or less the same set since 2014 bar the small desk and other small changes. Time for a revamp soon?

I very much doubt they will waste any money or time on the set seeing that they're due to move to Television Centre at some point next year. It will very likely mean a new set. Whether this will be an evolution of the current set or a different set up altogether, remains to be seen. As has been widely discussed, it might be something designed so it can be flexible enough to be used with either Lorraine or This Morning as they will have the logistics of four programmes in two studios, rather than four programmes in three like it is at the moment.
It's already been mentioned that GMB will have a standing set at one side of the studio and This Morning will have a standing set at the other side of the studio upon the move to TVC. I would presume it'll be a new set or a recreation as they would need to move somewhere else while the set was moved.
Could be interesting when GMB has a breaking story and runs to 10.30 handing over to the same studio.
If I were on the This Morning team I'd be really concerned about the change in dynamic caused by the move to TVC. The real view has been a key part of the show since day one at the Albert Dock. I'm expecting them to spend a fortune on an amazing set that will blow the other one away.

How are ‘This Morning’ going to rehearse before going on-air when GMB are in the same studio?

Lorraine is apparently using a different studio, so in theory they would have 830-1030 to rehearse. In the case of breaking news keeping GMB on air, then the running order would probably be ripped up anyway so the rehearsals would be useless.

I really don't think it will be that much of an issue. While having a real view has been a 'feature' of the show for many years, I think the vast majority of people watch the show based on the segments, guests and presenters and not on the live backdrop. I'm sure ITV will do a great job, as they so often do, in designing a set for TVC but in my opinion I think the dynamic change for the move will be very minimal and a non issue - we shall only know for sure though when they actually move!
Piers’ total lack of preparation for the program each morning became quite apparent earlier today. After slagging off some Harry and Megan merchandise or ‘trash’, Susanna then revealed they were going live to the factory that produced it - much to the surprise of Piers.
Whilst it was a rather funny moment, I think it shows that Piers quite literally just turns up and doesn’t really know what’s coming up. I’m sure his colleagues aren’t particularly impressed, and I imagine it makes meetings before the program quite difficult. I don’t imagine there are many television presenters who turn up 30 minutes before the program completely un-briefed.

Alot of preparation often goes into the seemingly unprepared. I suspect that was very much planned, thougg whether Piers was in on it or if it was at his expense we may never know.
