That's right, the sport isn't cover by him since the start of the year almost. (when he is not the newsreader)

Is that not because Charlotte is on Strictly, and the 'rotas' would be planned assuming she was still on. Plus the eliminated stars still have commitments to the show.

Potentially, although Charlotte has been newsreading as normal this week I believe.

The rota situation has never made much sense to me. When Piers was absent and Susanna, Charlotte and Sean were already in the building they’d get Kate or Ranvir in to present as well. Instead of getting a fourth presenter in, why not just have Susanna and Charlotte present, with Sean newsreading and doing the sport?

I believe Sean has also been reduced to relief newsreader now.

Kate was made second to Susanna for a reason, I think people’s aspirations for Charlotte are different to what reality is.

While Charlotte is more than capable, she and Sean have proved to be a bit dull in the scheme of things. However she would be a perfect fit for BBC Breakfast.

Kate’s role massively increased as a result of the bosses panicking a bit in my opinion, rather than Charlotte being dull (although it’s a fair comment). Ratings started to decline (lower than Daybreak v2) so they hit the panic button and went back to something very similar to GMTV. Kate was a known (and apparently popular) face back in the GMTV days, so I suppose it made sense to increase her role. It was only really Piers that managed to bring ratings up though (although not to the supposed levels we keep hearing about).

It’s worth pointing out that Kate is ten years older than Ranvir and Charlotte, so I’m sure the two of them will go on to do bigger things. Kate is at a different stage in her career. I could certainly see Ranvir in a more prominent role at ITV News in the not too distant future.

I think that both Kate and Ranvir have a warmth not seen in some others on the team, Kate with her morning show on Smooth is great to listen too and when Ranvir is on the Itv News she like Alistair Stewart makes you feel they are talking just to you.

I personally like all the team but do have a soft sport for both Kate and Ranvir

When is Piers back? Getting slightly tired of Richard.

Just out of interest, instead of using the pre-recorded backdrops that hardly ever reflect what it looks like outside, why dont GMB use the live camera used for the ITV London backdrop?

Someone doesn't remember the amazing view Daybreak used to have as their background

Well, the ITV London camera backdrop or indeed they could use the old daybreak studio

The biggest problem with it was at this time of year - dark backgrounds do not make for a warm looking morning programme.

A dark city background is fine for evening news programmes, but not so much for breakfast TV.
