They also used the vertical screen to display the date and GMB logo over the London skyline on long shots.

Another change that adds absolutely nothing.

They do a headlines roundup throughout the show that starts at that screen and then uses various monitors around the studio to show the various stories.

They do the headlines from the vertical hanging screens?

Rather than just have the pictures full frame, they are shown on the different monitors, with the steadicam moving around. The presenters still sit at the desk and voice the headlines.

When did this start? I've not noticed this at all. From what I've seen, the headlines are still done at the desk?

I saw it a few times last week, the .45 headlines I think.

I understand if it shown the time so the presenters could use it as their watch.

This is slightly random, but why on earth did they change the title music from the original fanfare? The current version is more suited for Lorraine!

No only random but also a year and a bit (nearly two!) later. It isn't the best rendition of the theme. The original is good, this one has a better middle section, would have been nice to have that implemented on the original theme.

The Oscars theme was by far the best.

They have tweaked the current theme a couple of times. Originally in January 2015 it was quite quiet with mainly the piano sound. By mid 2015 they remixed it slightly so the signature sting at the TOTH had a trumpet in the background. And by the time Piers joined the theme had all sounds amplified to have a stronger orchestral sound. It sounds much better than it sounded in 2015.
I like how they use the original theme as a special edition theme. And like Daniel K said the Oscar theme was excellent.

One thing would be interesting if they had a different theme for each hour. For example picture 6am: 2014 theme.
7am: Oscar theme & 8am: 2015 theme.

The Oscars opening sequence was probably one of the most brash, OTT and terrible things I've ever seen...

Oscar theme was good, opening was trashy.

I'd use the 'Buzz' music as the intro for 8am.

It's tacky... Which sums up GMB nicely I think. Lessons of GMTV still not learnt 6 years down the line!
