I hate when they do this - ITV I mean. They have been pretty consistent with GMB for 3 years now. It's looking better than any incarnation of Daybreak, and arguably GMTV.
Now it's being changed for changes sake...it doesn't need it. Not now anyway!
Interesting that just 3 years ago, they were telling people not to add a gradient to the logo, or make it anything other than flat.
Not really. The logo didn't have a gradient on it then. It does now.
So of course the branding guidelines would reflect this.

I remember Eron tweeting a while back with winks just before they changed the VO back to a male voice. I think it'll just be a slight logo change. Nothing more to it. That's my guess.
The program has settled, and has finally starting returning some decent ratings - above 700k/18% on several occasions recently. But now, in ITV's typical style, they insist on changing things.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the once fantastic studio ruined even further with more out of place additions, and an even lighter theme tune.
If they are doing anything more than minor tweaks, it would be nice to see a desk that actually suits the set, and letting the third presenter actually doing something else other than reading headlines. Certain sections of the show when Piers is on could really do with him sitting out, and letting Charlotte or Susanna taking the lead.
Also - less Kate Garraway - please! Kate has managed to crawl back into favour since 2014, going from a stand in 4th presenter to a main presenter.

Kate is good. Viewers have grown up with her on breakfast tv there's no reason to get rid of her. Remember when her and Dan Lobb done the 9 months of daybreak version 324 before version 325? The viewing figures were around 900K. Her and Ben have great chemistry.
I think everyone is going a bit over the top here. Over the last year they've perfected the format imo and although they may never have more viewers than BBC Breakfast, many people prefer GMB (including myself). I personally find the BBC offering to be very dull and I find GMB enjoyable and informative enough for a morning despite the odd bits of fluff.
This is probably going to be a slight graphics tweak which most of the audience won't care about or will brush off with an "ooh the logo looks a bit different". I think everyone on here is in agreement that the graphics have got worse since launch with them having got rid of the weather bug and unnecessarily altering bits and bobs. Hopefully this update will just sort that out and maybe bring a new desk that doesn't look so random in the middle of the studio.
EDIT - As for Kate, she's a good laugh and can get into serious mode when necessary. Just what you need in the morning I think. If anything I would just like to see the program extended or a weekend edition added.
They've not really gone that far. If it was Web 2.0 it would have lots of reflections and look very glossy. Apart from the font change, all they've really done is add a gradient and a border (and a drop shadow on the larger sized version)
Glad to see someone bucking the trend and moving away from a dull flat logo for once.

Couldn't agree more! I've grown up with Kate on breakfast TV starting from GMTV, through Daybreak to GMB. I can also speak for several members of my family (all different ages I might add) who love Kate, especially when she is with Ben. I find myself watching more of the programme when she is a main presenter. Also, interested to see what Monday brings. Could we have seen the last of Piers? #wishfulthinking

He's not going anywhere (for now at least) as he's been tweeting today about his interview with Stephen Hawking being shown on Monday.

It's funny because Bill Turnbull came to talk at my school a few weeks back, and when I asked him about Piers and GMB he said he doesn't think Piers will last too long, because he thinks that he'll say something that just completely crosses the line of what's OK for broadcast.
