I still dont get why Mrs Reid and Mr Shepherd doesnt present the show 5 days a week. Its such a strange practice. IMO its hard to build that relationship between the audience and the presenters if its a rotating cast with wildly different views, so that the programme has a different "tone" each day. So odd.

Other than The Big Breakfast in the 90s I don't think any live breakfast show has had the same hosts every weekday for 25 years or so now. That clip of the launch of GMTV shows even in 1993 they had Mon-Thu hosts and a Friday team. Not sure if TVam had that arrangement beforehand.

At the moment Susanna is the only main breakfast host on BBC and ITV who does 4 days a week.

The thing with the Friday team was there also worked a Sunday. TVAM also had a rotation of presenters from 1986. With Kay Burley, Mike Morris, Richard Keys and Anne Diamond. Maya Even, and Kathryn Holloway also helped out.

I think it was only in mid 1990 that it had straight run with Mike Morris and Lorraine Kelly.

Yes they did, initially at least before the wheels fell off and it became a lost cause bothering to keep them on air five days, plus Adrian had to have time off for the football.

The reason he left The One Show of course is because they were kicking him off the Friday show.

The reason he left The One Show of course is because they were kicking him off the Friday show.

Though the reason they were doing that was because he was going to do a late Friday night chat show on BBC2 (which eventually ended up on Sunday night on ITV)

When GMTV became TV-amified in March 1993 I'm pretty sure Eamonn & Lorraine were five days and that was the norm until some point during Eamonn & Fiona's reign.

In fact Eamonn says in his book that initially he was told he had to cut down to four days as they wanted to try different presenters on a Friday. When he went down to four days his contract still stated five so he was still paid accordingly.

Though that was possibly more to do, initially, with the fact that Fiona Armstrong had left and Mike Wilson had been relegated to 6am, so they didn't really have enough presenters. As mentioned, initially GMTV was on six days a week and Eamonn and Anne Davies did Fridays and Sundays, but the Sunday show gradually became a much lower priority and eventually became the political show.

In those early days the Sunday show was hosted by Mike Morris wasn't it? There is a clip on YouTube.

No it was Eamonn and Anne Davies and was called Sunday best running for 90mins. If you watch the opening titles your see 07.20 on the mans alarm clock. by march it was moved to 06.30- 8am with Cartoons taking the 8-9.25. Morris only come along in April 1993.
