Stumbled upon this and I cannot believe how normal Kate Garraway is, rather than the ditzy cartoon character we see these days. I know it's the News Hour, but still, quite a transformation.
She came from Sky News don't forget (didn't she present Live at Five?).
What other breakfast show is there in this country where two high profile hosts publicly argue over social media?
Millions of new jobs, swift recovery from recession, fewer left uninsured, same-sex marriage, climate change progress. Not a total failure. https://t.co/POpIVErNSu
This is the thing that gets me about GMB above all - Susanna Reid only seems to give opinions on things like Trump in retaliation to what Morgan says, but he openly bangs on about his views and bla bla which just doesn't sit right with me. I appreciate that presenters are allowed to have personalities, but he is so blatantly opinionated it seems inappropriate - when GMB announced Trump had been elected he sounded *so* very smug it didn't seem like the reporting of news, but the gloating of a man who brags about being friends with the President at every possible opportunity!
looks like she finally cracked. some of his tweets about Trump this past two days have been absolutely embarrassing. Considering ratings for GMB remain poor - despite the spin - he's giving them the perfect excuse to get rid of him when the time comes.
I'm starting to get a bit sick of 'The Piers Morgan Show' now. It was amusing, but now it's getting to the point where his rants take up huge chunks of the show. The way they've got round this is to just cut out the 7:30 news bulletin on some days, as well as most of Richard Arnold's segments. Moreover, interviews consist of 1 minute Susanna, 7 minutes Piers.
Ratings haven't shifted, but ITV have the tabloids on side, with everybody saying ratings are up (when they are not).
At least with Charlotte and Ben yesterday there was some banter, but everything ran on time and remained professional. I much prefer having Charlotte present with Ben. Kate brings that lightweight GMTV feeling on a Friday, which is not good for the show.
I suspect his bosses are loving every single tweet.
Well yes - my point was more that they are truly, finally trying something different than the usual 'let's go newsy, but then drop it all and revert back to comfortable GMTVness' approach.
Usually breakfast shows try to pretend that all the presenters are best friends on screen (and you only hear of disagreements via rumours such as Eamonn/Anthea) but they're going directly against that. I just find it interesting.
If they truly didn't like Piers he wouldn't have made it past being a guest host.
*None of this is to say I remotely respect or admire Piers Morgan as a person or even watch Good Morning Britain on a regular basis, of which I don't
I agree - after years of complaining about the banality of the likes of Kate Garraway and Ben Shepherd it is refreshing to have presenters who can express opinions and really it does only work by having presenters with contrasting opinions.
Don't understand the choice of Kate Garraway to present the inauguration coverage. Surely one of the regular reporters like Pip Tomson could have performed the role. If it had to be a presenter, Susanna would have been my choice.

Kate is good, when she fills the newsreader role. As presenter, it seems like a different person (although I think that is down to her relationship with Susanna & Ben more than anything else).
I had issue with the fact Kate didn't get equal billing on Friday. I'd have expected GMB to be booming "Live from London, and from Washington, the Inauguration...". Just seemed odd to have one of the top 4 presenters on location, but not credited as such.
As someone who last regularly watched GMTV in about 1999 and has been a loyal BBC Breakfast viewer ever since, I've found myself dropping the BBC completely and watching Good Morning Britain since last year. Once Sian Williams and then Bill Turnbull left, the BBC has just become completely dull as dishwater. Same old presenters all pretending to get along with each other, everything is "safe" and happy and smiley - it's just too much at 7.30 in the morning. And the less said about Dan Walker the better - I have tried but I can't warm to him at all.
One day I got bored and flicked over to ITV and stumbled upon Piers and Susanna and I have to say I found them completely refreshing. Not pretending to like each other - and actually exchanging opinions between themselves. I now tune in at about 7.20 and leave at about 7.45 and in that time, I usually get to see something entertaining, some news headlines, the weather and an interview. That's all I need in the morning. I can't stand Piers Morgan - but I think the attraction is that I love to hate him. So, Susanna debating with him is actually decent viewing for me. And he doesn't half give the politicians he interviews a grilling, which is always good to watch.
A year ago I never ever thought I would be uttering the words in this post. It may be only anecdotal - but GMB has certainly captured my attention in the mornings.
