......and if we can’t get Paxman, there’s always John Humphrys.
If they are looking within the existing ITV Daytime pool of talent you would have to say Eamonn Holmes is the obvious option for a Piers style role.
If they are broadening the net and bringing somebody in... Jeremy Paxman could well be available?

Those who like Piers like Piers for being Piers. You don't then get someone in to be like Piers, because that's not Piers.

This is another very good edition. I watched a few of these now and the ones with people they’ve worked with are particularly good and gives you a genuine idea of the people. Deserves more views, but you get the impression they’re doing it for their own enjoyment as much as anyone else’s.

It would be good to see the first half an hour of news back, they could then possibly put Charlotte at the smaller desk in the sofa area for headlines throughout the show, and Dr Hilary in the weather area. With social distancing likely to stay for a while yet, that seems likely to be the only way the newsreader role might return.
They haven’t really needed the half hour of news or a newsreader since the pandemic started, as they’ve been going straight into a summary of the latest news. As the situation eases, however, I can see the return of Piers’ rants, which will make the newsreader role and the half hour of news more important.
It’s interesting that Ben was essentially taken off Thursday’s, but has filled in for Piers this week (although Ben is perfectly capable of handling serious news, the show does instantly have a different feeling when he presents though).
I wouldn't be surprised if Piers goes back to three days after half term, and they might even return Charlotte to the news desk, even if just for half an hour, as TV continues to return to a "new normal". Possible though they might give Lorraine the week after half term off first though.

That must be a horrible experience, but at least they know he won’t be there for long.
though of course he is contracted to do other things with ITV (usually meeting serial killers)

I thought he’d signed for 3 years about a year ago? Read a rumour of ‘crisis-talks’ last week.
