Regardless of the new advice I'm taking zero notice of it and I will be staying at home, protecting the NHS and saving lives

The new things you can do aren’t compulsory, you are still perfectly allowed to carry on as you were, you aren’t ‘ignoring the advice’ by doing so.

They might not be compulsory but even if they were I would ignore them because my actions are having no impact on anyone else outside these 4 walls

Exactly. I know it's become an overused phrase, but just carry on with common sense, which as far as I'm concerned is to always keep far away from everyone else, whenever possible, and restrict being in public confined spaces as much as possible.

I completely agree with you but many people don't use common sense and now they have more freedom we will see more and more people not social distancing

This is the problem. They are the same people who decide it's a good idea to sit on the edge of a 500ft crumbling cliff, or go for a stroll on a beach during a hurricane. Regretably unlike the above two examples, where you can stand back and let Darwinism take its natural course, with CV19 these idiots will kill innocents, and worse still probably survive themselves.

All you can really do is stay away from them wherever possible (Difficult in the fruit and veg section of Sainsburys I've discovered)

Regardless of the new advice I'm taking zero notice of it and I will be staying at home, protecting the NHS and saving lives - I know i've said this before but I live with one of the 1.8 million identified most at risk and told to shield

If you're in a household with someone shielding, you should continue as you were anyway. The advice for you has not changed.

Lorraine airing a reunion with her daughter who returned from Singapore hasn't gone down too well on social media today. Interesting they got Pritti Patel though, technically on GMB but of course avoiding Piers. She really though has been pretty much absent from public view in the 300,034 974,000 days of this crisis.

The advice has always been that the person has to shield but other members of the household can go to work, out shopping or out for daily exercise which I found quite moronic - So if I go shopping to the most likely place you will catch it I risk bringing it back making the shielding completely pointless - I may not get symptoms and by the time I do it will be too late the alternative is I stay 2m away at all times as said on the letter, try doing that in a semi detached house Laughing or I guess I could lock myself in a room for 7 days just to be sure then have to go back out again - that simply is not sustainable over a 6 month period so I made the decision that none of us would be leaving the house and then we can move around freely whilst minimising the chance of any of us getting it in the first place - Thankfully we get priority delivery slots so its not longer an issue and we are lucky that we have a garden but on day 1 of lockdown the lad from next door came to get his ball and living on a corner people can come in the front or back gate so you can never be sure someone won't sneak up on you accidently such as the postwoman or delivery people. the letter actually says to the shielded person they should not leave the house and only open a window for fresh air but then they don't know we have a garden which is obviously safe but again that is only if other people use common sense and don't turn up unexpected or get too close such as the postwoman who multiple times had handed the non shielding person the mail whilst in the garden

Before people say there is no evidence you can get it off mail or deliveries how do you know that the person packing the box was not infected or seconds earlier the delivery person did not just cough into their hands before picking out your letter or touching your box, maybe they touched next doors gate handle that someone had contaminated so as a precaution we leave everything for 3 days and wash hands - over the top maybe but its better to be safe than sorry

Reading my posts on this you may think I'm sat here worrying about it 24 hours a day but I'm quite relaxed about our personal situation as I'm confident I've taken every step to minimise the chance of them getting it and if we do it will be through no fault of our own

Whilst stuck at home and people keeping us alive with deliveries we are doing our part with 8,000 other volunteers who have been asked to help make 3D Printed face shields for the NHS and care homes - We supply them free and they are getting used in operating theatres, general wards, Covid wards, GP surgeries, care homes, funeral directors and some dentists - If you have a 3D printer 200 x 200 or bigger and would like to print some yourself excellent or the group is running out of money to pay for materials so if you would like to donate search for 3DCrowdUK or to me personally DM me and I can tell you more about it - If you don't have a printer or can't donate you could always volunteer to collect them from local makers or distribute to the end users. You may have seen a report about it on last nights itv news - The group has so far delivered 130,000+ and I've made 150 - should have been 500 by now but you know when you need something to work it all goes against you Razz

back on topic
Watching this mornings GMB I was finding myself getting irritated by them constantly asking Dr Hilary a question and then talking over him - I don't mind them doing it to a politician who is not answering the question but it just came over as increasingly rude this morning and they really do need to ask a question and let him answer and not generally spend 2 mins asking a question to then stop him with a objection seconds later. Both of them are getting bad for speaking over people half way through a sentence and sometimes we get 3 people all talking over each other and you can hear nothing. I'm quite good at isolating one and listening to the other but I can't do it with 3 voices

Being in a similar position to yourself living with a shielded person I think coverage generally has been poor for them, failing to acknowledge there is a huge proportion of the public advised not to even go for that once a day walk - and failing to address that for them nothing had changed with the advise this week and more importantly, to my knowledge not challenging that.

Anyway, Piers ranting again tonight about the government not providing senior ministers for the last three weeks - I'm guessing they let them on the show on Thursdays until he started doing 4 days a week, although to be fair they boycotted last week as well when he was off.

That sums it up if he’s shouting over the top of Dr Hilary as well now. He obviously knows more than a qualified medical professional.

I bet Hilary much prefers when he’s on GMB with Lorraine
