It's tempting to remove every post on this inane and semi regular debate we have on here about this but I've certainly removed ones where someone has either copy and pasted a wall of text about it, or gone to the bother of sounding them out on it...but by quoting the entire post again. And that's before we have a new member who's first contribution is to tell people to stay on-topic Rolling Eyes

There really does need to be a bit of common sense when hitting the submit button.

No more discussion here on NHS logos or what exactly is the country we live in.

To be fair that discussion started due to a presentation point, but did get way laid. Tv for the whole serves the whole country (countries) using recognised symbols in presentation like the rainbow globe or nhs logo or some else as long as it’s recognised and tells the person what they’re watching, what’s it about and who’s showing it, which was presentation about and the slightly conversation was about final word on that matter. Other question should Gmb have ditched regional news like bbc breakfast has or used/ done it differently somehow ?

I think the difference with regional broadcasts on BBC Breakfast is they produced 6 bulletins a day from 18 locations. IIRC ITV Breakfast produce only 3 a day, from only 9 locations and have sponsorship deals for the weather forecasts which might be a contractual obligation.

The number of staff involved is far less for ITV, and so may be considered less of a risk in terms of social distancing.

I think the key difference is that it is technically a different franchise too. Fair play to ITV though for not trying to follow suit once the BBC ditched their bulletins.

Most times I watch GMB I assume they've dropped the regional news..... then I just realise they're overrunning again

The latest Zoom chat "With Anne & Nick" features Gyles Brandreth. Lots of reminiscing about TVAM and their thoughts on Piers and Susanna including Gyles' genius idea for the summer holidays.

Piers - known for his out of the blue rants about Meghan Markle for no apparent reason - has vowed never to mention them on the programme again, adding he "can't be arsed".

I wonder if that’ll even last to the end of the week.

GMB's commitment to regional news at breakfast time even before the pandemic was lax - I never understood why they bother with regional news anymore during GMB, when there is never a clear set time and when the bulletins air it is a blink and you miss them update.

Typical regional news during GMB is three top regional stories, a sponsorship link into the local weather and goodbye. Hardly worth them producing these bulletins in the first place.

OFCOM should decide once and for all whether ITV breakfast programming needs regional news in them anymore. TV-am never bothered and GMTV only bothered after they were forced into it.

The sponsorship sting alone probably more than covers the cost though.

I think it’s about right. Any longer would be too long.

GMB are still showing regional news. Breakfast are not. Three stories and the weather is about all you need at breakfast- it's in line with what local radio serves up.

Saying OFCOM should axe it because it isn't at the same time each hour is frankly stupid.

I think in actual fact it was starting to get a bit more structure. During the first 30 minutes of the show the regional update was always around 6:15am and was pretty much hourly thereafter. However it’s very clear GMB are not about having a rigid structure the same things happen more or else at the same time but if it’s later than it should be then so be it.
