Piers is seriously annoying in his trashy interview style. I can’t stand the man.

I don’t think holding a Government minister to account is trashy. The MP in would’ve known what to expect going up against Piers Morgan. She couldn’t answer any straight answers and when she was given the opportunity she started to use the same meaningless phrases

His interview with the care minister this morning was appalling. Demanding yes or no answers, not accepting any nuance and dismissing any explanation. His passion for justice is brilliant, but this style is just a frustrating watch for viewers who get no opportunity to hear answers.

Piers has confirmed on Twitter that he will be now doing Thursday for the "foreseeable future".

I’d argue people don’t want waffle and would rather hear a straight yes/no answer on questions such as would you give nurses a pay rise? It’s quite simple in my opinion.

Life is more complicated than yes or no answers, and shouting her down as soon as she started to explain her answer is bad form. Viewers appreciate hearing the reason behind things.

Would you vote for NHS staff to receive a pay rise? I don’t think it needs an explanation - look on Twitter and those who work in the healthcare profession agree. Helen Whately was given time to response - I don’t disagree Piers was shouting but why should he let the Government get an easy ride? Particularly if they are to go on and spout the same old waffle/approved phrases “we are guided by the science” etc

It certainly does when the opposition used it as a stunt with no responding tax increase specified to pay for it. It is incredibly lazy tabloid journalism from Piers. Zero nuance or real world
facts allowed.
Oh btw Twitter isn't real life

That may have been a stunt, but it’s a simple question, if you’re talking about how valued the NHS are, and then asked well would you give them a pay rise? The simple answer is yes? It’s lazy journalism to allow Government Ministers to stick to their generic responses on key issues.

Doctors, nurses, care home workers and healthcare professionals on Twitter are real...btw.

Morgan's behaviour during the interview with the care minister this morning was, in my opinion, highly unprofessional and disingenuous. Piers knew the questions he was asking were unfair, and actually I think the minister should have stood up for herself a little more and called Piers out on his lazy, trashy standards of journalism. If Piers knows MPs don't set their own pay (which undoubtedly he will know), why is he telling the minister she voted for pay increases for MPs and not nurses, when she did no such thing?

It's never been more important for news programs to be rational, detailed and clear in their output. Whilst Morgan is on GMB, the program will never come close.

I believe the point Cando is making is that Twitter is only a fragment of reality. I've seen certain public service workers express views in support of the Conservatives before and been horrifically shouted down to the point they are less likely to express such views in future. That creates an echo chamber which then paints a distorted view of 'real life'.

What Piers is doing is pure tabloid fodder. He went into the interview not expecting to get an answer to the question, but persisted. A few more clicks on YouTube, a load more outrage on Twitter, but the conversation doesn't move on any further. Tabloid journalism is all Piers knows.

Piers really needs to rewatch the Prince Andrew interview with Emily Maitliss to see how it's done, though I appreciate it is very different interviewing live when you're restricted to time.

Was a very frustrating interview this morning - you need to let ministers use the rope you give them to hang themselves, rather than take it back off them as soon as you give them, and then challenge them on their answer. Yes, sometimes (quite often) they'll dodge the question but at least let them answer before challenging them on their answer. The trouble with this style is it becomes less about the content of the interview and more about the interview itself, and understandably interviewees (and indeed the interviewer) just end up getting more and more frustrated and it doesn't go anywhere.

Some horrific things being said about Helen Whately on Twitter right now. It’s as if we learnt nothing from what happened to Caroline Flack. Putting someone up for interview for Piers just to take his anger out on them is thoroughly irresponsible, especially when that person has no doubt been working incredibly hard these last few weeks.
