Its just arrogant Piers not waiting a single minute to get out into his chauffeured car to get home. It seems him and Susanna's TV relationship is just a show for telly and social media and they are not friends in real life.

Erm... I’d say the opposite is true. They argue on-screen, they’re friends in real life (just like Piers is with a lot of his ‘enemies’).

Could it be that he starting to clear things and unplug things straight away because Lorraine needed to get into the chair and ready for the other side of the commercial break?

Excuse me for asking this but what would need to be different for Lorraine other than 1 seat and her notes/papers?

There is absolutely nothing in that clip that suggests tension between them other than them being sat miles apart for what we know are other reasons.

The most I ever see from GMB is the clips on here but I've always thought from these that Piers just doesn't seem to do the 'friendly TV presenter' bits - in all the closes that people have been posting here of late I don't think I've ever seen him say 'goodbye' at the end of the programme. He just sort of reads the last line on the autocue and stops?!

I think that's also what made some of the Lorraine clips look a bit tense because she'd be bright and bubbly at the end of the show with a bit of ad-libbing over the goodbyes, whilst he'd just read the script all fairly monotone and then sort of vacantly stare into the camera until they cut to the wide shot.

In that clip the fact they don't even look in the vague direction of each other, never mind make eye contact, doesn't exactly scream great relationship. That said, I don't watch much GMB so perhaps that's their normal. They could take lessons from Lorraine and Dr Hilary though; who seem to manage smiling, talking, and eye contact in quite an easy manner.

Your reasoned logic has no place in this thread.

Maybe ‘tense’ wasn’t a fair description, but Piers’ general demeanour is not exactly pleasant.

Business as usual then, as his general demeanour is very rarely pleasant.

Did Piers and Susanna have a disagreement of some sorts this morning?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eP7UzPWeoE

Closing of the show seemed awfully.. tense.

It's just part of their appeal to be as mean to each other as possible. You can tell they love each other really. If they were all smiley and cheery together it wouldn't look natural as that is not the on screen persona Piers projects. Whereas Lorraine and Piers being all friendly and lovey dovey comes across as natural because that's who Lorraine is.

What story preceded the closing sequence? Maybe that's why there were no smiles or frivolities from Piers and Susanna? Maybe he's just glum at the prospect of another day of lockdown home schooling his kids...

Maybe they'd just spent 3 hours talking about one of the most depressing stories of our lifetimes.
