I didn't watch all of it this morning, when Charlotte came to the main desk between 6.30-9.00 was there any interaction between her and Piers & Susanna, except when she was stood at the screen for the headlines?

Yes there was, she trailed them as they were waiting behind the scenes and then they walked into the studio where they cut to the weather with Laura.

Thanks - was there anything when all three were sat at desk and interacting, e.g. like there used to be when they went to local news or the Lorraine preview?

Lorraine was live in the studio

I'm very underwhelmed with day one of the new 30 minutes to the show. Not impressed that they repeated the news stories twice in the 30 minutes and the switch from just Charlotte to the main show at 6.30 was a mess, with Piers shouting in the background of Laura's weather.

Was there a subtle change of DOG in STV-land following the adverts at 9:25?

From having a proper look now, I do quite like the first half hour approach. As others had said, they could have filled it better than almost repeating the first 15 minutes again, but I feel it all worked rather well.

At this stage I know it would be a lot to ask for, but this could have been a good opportunity for the regions that have at least one reasonable length slot longer than 2 minutes... but at least they'll probably have a more consistent start time for the first one.

Watching it back, I think the opening steadicam shot of Charlotte at the desk looked a bit cheap. Actually, was it even steadicam? It seemed a bit shaky.

That whole corner clearly wasn't designed to have a desk in it. It was designed to act as a forced perspective backdrop for the main desk, and therefore looks very pokey.

Things improved vastly when she moved to the big screen.

I didn’t think it was to bad.

If it was me I would put Charlotte in the middle of the main desk then delay regional news till 6:25am. In the time that they gone they could reset the desk. Then when they come back launch the main show. That way it would keep things tidy.

Like the new titles and music - but a bit odd having the two starts - just better to have Piers and Susanna and Charoltte at the start - do the first 15 mins / 20 mins to include regional news as was done this morning and then let the programme run as normal.
I think the programme the morning after the election shows they can do this

When it was done like that on GMTV with the Newshour, were there any complaints then? I presume not.

Unrelated to the new look, but I found the 'headline' they used for the wildfires story ('Australia on fire') rather unnecessarily tabloidy.

Not really - Australia is literally on fire.

Surprised the local news was at 6.15 - thought they'd hold it back till 6.25 as a buffer before the 6.30 restart.

That new opening is nasty, especially at 6am. Also cutting across a large studio to a tiny desk looks very odd - would be better to have her stood at the wall.

I'm probably the only one who didn't like the pre-recorded look at the news at the TOTH. There's no real reason why Charlotte can deliver that live.
