They just mentioned about people saying Piers and Susanna never look at each other when they are arguing and people have suggested its because its scripted

I'm going to guess this is based on a Tweet I saw yesterday (as a GMB researcher retweeted it). The original poster made clear he didn't mean it's scripted word-for-word. He said the overall dynamic of "Piers v Susanna" was as genuine as professional wrestling.

It might be an apt time to post a video I posted in the YouTube Gold thread a few days ago of a very young Susanna Reid reading a BBC News bulletin 20 years ago. You can see she’s changed quite a bit!

Even through her BBC days she never was one to say boo to a goose. So I imagine upon being paired with Piers on GMB has had to take a bit of scripting/coaching to compete with such a divisive figure.

I do know from interviews she’d do in the glossy mags she found the pairing very hard to grapple with in the first few years.

If anything moving to GMB did Reid's profile a huge favour. By the end of her tenure at Breakfast, I found her delivery and persona a hard watch.

Playing the moderate next to Piers has done her wonders.

If I recall correctly, she was on the ascent during the latter stages of her BBC career - participating in Strictly and getting to the final that year (2013) and then going on to host the New Year's Eve fireworks playing out to millions, so it's not as if the BBC was holding her career back.

Was nowhere for her to go though at the BBC with the main bulletins and The One Show all occupied.

Hmm. Wow. I mean it doesn’t offend me. But I’m not Chinese so I’m not going to be one of those people who gets offended on other people’s behalf’s. I didn’t find it funny but didn’t find it outrageous either. He shouldn’t have done it in my opinion but we all know nothing will probably come of it unless hundreds of complaints come flooding in. The hypersensitivity in this country now is just unbearable

Wow, she did bloody well for her first bulletin. Am I right in saying she didn't do many straight network bulletins at the BBC? Just mainly News 24, Breakfast and the Marr show summaries?

Just a shame she forgot to take her helmet off.
