I’m honestly struggling to think of a change presentation wise that has been a genuine improvement on what the show launched with in 2014. The original studio, titles, music and graphic package were all uniformly excellent, and flowed perfectly.

It does seem to have more refreshes than TV Live. Wink

The studio change was certainly an improvement but virtually everything else has just been a rehash of the same thing - I suspect most casual viewers would think it has remained largely unchanged since 2014.

Anyway, by tomorrow we'll be back to people complaining that Piers spent the first 20 minutes of the show ranting. He'll have 8 weeks worth to get off his chest tomorrow.

Why what do you expect him to say?

The new voiceover just doesn't fit. Whatever the reasoning behind the change, they need to revert back to the previous version ASAP. To be frank, it sounds like a parody.

It's a no from me.

The ticker, I don't mind. I would much prefer a flipper but a ticker will be fine.

The voiceover does not fit the show. It's far too deep and slow. It's just like they got someone in to do an impression of the Hollywood voiceover man. I fail to see why they had to get rid of Dominic.

If they must use a ticker, why not incorporate it into the same space and shape as the current flipper. Here's a quick mock-up:

Agreed. The ticker doesn't look half as bad as some people are making it out to be but the voiceover doesn't sound right for a breakfast show

They should have kept a flipper. Easier and quicker to read. Same as CNN and BBC.

I like the idea of the ticker(the blue bar) but I think a flipper would work a lot better in it like bbc news. It would make it a lot easier to read the headlines. I don’t know why the graphic in the bottom left corner has to change so often between “#gmb” and “itv” seems to put more emphasis on the fact it’s on itv (because you can’t always see the DOG because a lot of the time it’s on a white background) and not stv like it would be here in Scotland. That might just be me looking too far into it though.

I don’t really like the voice over but I think it may grow on me.

Edit: just watching on catch-up is there a slight change in the colour of the live flash?

That new VO is hilarious - so booming and deep. At the very least it's memorable.

I know some on here complain with other channels (cough Sky News) that presentation isn't changed up enough but it seems to almost be the opposite extreme with GMB. There always seems to be something changing with the presentation - they'll make the music a bit lighter, then they'll change to a female voiceover then back to a male voiceover, change the ticker to a flipper then change the graphics and then change the voiceover again and then change back to a ticker. It all just feels change for the sake of it and it's all a bit unnecessary as the presentation/look of GMB isn't actually the problem with it.
You compare to the main ITV News bulletins where by and large the look of the Lunchtime & Evening bulletins hasn't really changed in over 7 years

Agree with most - change for the sake of it. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love when programmes have semi-regular refreshes with a new look graphic or slight music/set change, but I'm struggling to see the benefit of this change.
Firstly, the return of the ticker.
Why the flipper should come back;
- Looks miles more modern, and widely used so is more familiar
- You can read a headline easily, and don't have to wait for each one to gradually 'load' in from the side
Next, the new voiceover. I personally don't like it, and I do think it's a step back from Dominic. Regardless of the reasons why it was changed (which haven't been confirmed yet anyway and is just speculation), it can't be denied that the old VO was more professional and sounded more lively, well-suited to the atmosphere of the show.
These are my thoughts, obviously these changes have been made now, so it would seem strange if they were instantly reversed, but even just making the VO a bit louder over the music would sound better I think, although I don't think the ticker should stay. Maybe the #GMB should stay as it was more consistent than just an orange box at the side written in Reem rather than Gilroy. As for the ITV logo, I really do think its pointless being there, and again added change for the sake of it.
