New voiceover sounds ludicrous. Why's is so deep? Why's it so slow? What was wrong with the previous one? Everything GMB do is like they're just trying to be as different from other shows as possible, which, bearing in mind the flipper seems to be becoming more commonplace (i.e. has been used on BBC News since last year), seems to be the rationale for bringing the dreadful outdated ticker back, complete with entirely punctuation-free 'GOOD MORNING BRITAIN IT'S [DAY XTH MONTH YEAR] THIS IS THE WORLD YOU'RE WAKING UP TO'. Change for the sake of change, and all for the worse.

This is no word of a lie, just last night I was trying to give GMB a bit of a graphics refresh! Looks like ITV beat me to it šŸ˜„ I agree with everyone that the ticker is a bit old school.

I donā€™t mind the ticker, but Iā€™m not won on the voiceover, it does sound like itā€™s been slowed down.

Voiceover - wrong tone, doesn't fit, political correctness gone too far
Ticker - feels like a copy+paste of the 2008 BBC News ticker, expanded + coloured teal

As a lover of all presentation (as I'm sure most of us are) I do like a refresh, however, as others have said I find this inferior to the previous flipper and voiceover.

I do quite like the animated itv logo with the hashtag promotion, and hopefully with the hashtag in the bottom left it will cease the large yellow box being used enabling the full length of the straps to be utilised. The blue bar and animation bottom left remind me of the Oct 2005 Sky News ticker:

Hopefully things will be reversed based on public reaction.

The whole thing of making a change for the sake of it reminds me of this from GMTV Today in 2003:

Even though I'm a fan of orchestral stings, it took away that upbeat start to the programme and was reversed by the Wednesday (if my memory serves me right).

I think they mean that they believe ITV chose the new voiceover artist based mainly on a diversity drive, not the quality of his voiceover.

Voiceover - Wrong tone, thats the issue here, the tone and delivery. There's many talented diverse voices that would suit it.

This appears to confirm that they're going back to the half-hour news before Piers & Susanna at 6:30am

Maybe the producers are using him because they like his voice - the quality is subjective. Thereā€™s no evidence that he was employed as part of a diversity drive ā€“ just an assumption based on the fact he doesnā€™t sound white.

I'm not one to decide why ITV hired him - and I wasn't endorsing or condemning the previous comment, and I don't intend to weigh in on the political argument. I was merely taking a guess at what he may have meant when he referenced 'political correctness'.

"No evidence he was employed as part of a diversity drive".
ITV couldn't have made their diversity drive more obvious if they'd tried.

What other hirings do you base on a ā€˜diversity driveā€™? (Question open to anyone)
