Ah twitter, the steadfast barometer of reasoned public opinion.

I don't think the public has time for reasoned opinion in the morning. They either like it or switch off, which is why Twitter shouldn't be underestimated.

The only problem is, at this stage, of course the reaction to GMB is going to be more positive, as the only ones left watching it are the people that like it.

Unless there are thousands of twitter posts, I'm wary of reading too much into a few tens of comments from a self-selecting group. There are still hundreds of thousands of people watching GMB in comparison.

Agreed to a point. It's nowhere near an exact science, but if you look at comments by people who aren't in the industry, that just live everyday lives, and the views are all similar (as was the case when GMB launched) you have to give them some credibility.

They are interesting - but they really only tell you what a small, self-selecting, group of Twitter users think. I think you have to be very careful not to let them dictate what you do too much, and not think they represent your entire audience's view.

I'd agree with this. Comments on Twitter, Facebook or indeed anywhere else are generally unbalanced and are very rarely what the general public think. Decent media outfits have learnt to look at these sources but not necessarily take any notice. Unlike even a year or two ago when a twitter or facebook campaign could have an effect.

Good Morning 'Australia' as GMB will be beginning a new pointless week in Australia

I am certainly not going as far as to say 'Im off to the beeb' [sic], but I do agree about the table. Seems an entirely unnecessary change and has ultimately made the set look less sleek and modern than it did eight months ago. A strange decision. They seem to be going down a brown and orange route... even the lampshades above the sofa area are now brown. Not the changes I would have made.

And a perfect example of why twitter is a poor barometer of public opinion. Usually its a vocal minority with an extreme opinion.

If you were happily watching GMB before the cosmetic changes, would you really suddenly change your allegiences to the BBC off the back of them replacing the desk ? And then have a hissy fit about it by tweeting it to the producer.

Twitter inspires odd behaviour.

Funnily enough, since posting the tweet above, the viewer has deleted their message...

You should remove the persons twitter from the thread then as they clearly don't want it on here.

Hi, that's me btw after looking at it perhaps it did look abit over the top but I just really don't feel the need for the changes

The desk has been made to fit4 people so it can't be because they are reducing the team size. Im rather worried they will reduce seans presence on the show to the point where he leaves because they seem to emphasise his slot for the first few episodes to the point where he barely appears

That's ok then. The reaction is more understandable coming from a TV Forumer. Very Happy

Have they had 4 people around the desk yet and has Sean been featuring since Monday ?

As I mentioned earlier they had all four of them at the desk when Sean joined them for the sports bulletin at 6:35am. They used the portrait monitor behind to show graphics which looked much better than the headline graphic imo.

I'm guessing they all signed one year contracts, so wouldn't be surprised at all if Sean is sent packing in April and when Charlotte goes on maternity they make it purely based around Susanna and Ben.

Glad they've abandoned the headline graphic
