I’m a bit disappointed- it was clearly not long enough, and they were desperately trying to be something they’re not. If it was a pilot, unfortunately it didn’t work. Let’s not forget GMB is a NEWS programme (or at least has news at its core) and what we had tonight, was anything but that.
It's not actually, it's a magazine programme that contains news. If it were a news programme they wouldn't be able to get away with half the stuff Piers says.
I thought the whole programme was stuffy, awkward and awful but perhaps it's just not for me. There was nobody providing any comedy element! In that timeslot, Andi Peters opening the Woolpack till and saying "oooh there's no money!" is not really hitting it for me. Call me a boring old fart but if Danny Dyer calling the former PM a t**t is the comedy level? Count me out!
While the set and Gfx were good there was way too much with too many guests within a one hour slot including ad breaks. The fact that the "highlight" was Danny Dyer calling David Cameron a t**t (twice) pretty much says it all really.
Going back and forth from all the different stuff didn't really work - Football to Love Island to Football to Brexit to St Georges Flag to Punditry to to St Georges flag to Love Island to Brexit and on and on didnt work.
So now we know,
breakfast TV does not convert into evening
TV. All a bit awkward if you ask me.
Proven by one simple fact in the ticker graphic - You do not need a clock on screen at 9pm in the evening. It just looked so pointless.
I'll just add that the free competition online is not working. It asks for your mobile number and then sends a four figure pin by text to enter the competition. Yet entering the pin number they send, the ITV competition site says the number they have given is not recognised. It's done this with two separate people's entries in our household. Absolute joke.
They didn't even bother to put the latest non football news on the Ticker or do a weather forecast.
