It's written all over Susanna's face that she recognises this is a car crash.

Given that their recent ad campaign revolved around argumentative debates, I’d say it’s going exactly to plan. It’s a one-off, a bit of fun.

The debates are fine, it's the poor structure and awkward moments I'm talking about.

My view:

Intro: OTT, but if changed to fit the GMB intro, it would work.

Music: Again a bit OTT, but acceptable for the circumstances and as a one-off.

Content: As other have said, all over the place. They had too many guests and there hasn't been much focus. However, the idea has still worked to some extent in my opinion.

My overall opinion: Looking at the show, it hasn't been that good. However, some sections have been good, and if the programme was done in the same style as GMB, it could work.

Is this the first time GMB/GEB has had actual credits?

Yes. They've never had rolling credits before.

What a weird programme. It felt under rehearsed and rushed. Having said that, there were some good bits. The throws to Andy Peters were utterly pointless though. I can understand why so they can change guests etc but that was definitely the worst thing about it. The fact that England lost didn't help either.

Great show. Really enjoyed it. Especially Danny Dyer.

Hmm... so I'm a little torn on it. I think it has promise, but the problem is it's just far too crammed with guests tonight.

They'd be better off having just a couple of debates and a bit of showbiz fluff - maybe a quick news update at the bottom of the hour. I found tonight's show just a little stressful to watch with the amount of stuff going on.

Yeah just a bit messy but at least they have it a go, less guests more structure, they had to use the sofa set as well as it would have worked better for the evening format.

The reaction on my Twitter feed was simply one of bemusement. A bizarre mix of guests could have worked really well, but in reality it was a bit of a disaster. I also think the show suffered from a lack of purpose — why was it actually on? The usual GMB has a clear purpose but GEB lacks any real reason to exist, and I think that was seen quite clearly.

To be fair that final segment with Danny Dyer was ok but the rest was just learching from guest to guest, topic to topic, Piers having to rant about everything. I’m not sure why half the guests were there as they had nothing to add and barely got a word in.

I’m a bit disappointed- it was clearly not long enough, and they were desperately trying to be something they’re not. If it was a pilot, unfortunately it didn’t work. Let’s not forget GMB is a NEWS programme (or at least has news at its core) and what we had tonight, was anything but that.
