Personally for me, Going For Gold is in need of a makeover. Here's what I would do: It doesn't really suit being on Five. I'd persuade ITV or the BBC to pick it up for it to maintain its seriousness.
Or simply bring it back as One to Win. That's the only way to maintain it's seriousness.
Going for Gold... seriousness? WTF? All they need to do is tone down the viewer competitions. More people would probably be entering the competitions if they didn't keep shoving it down the viewers throats every 5 seconds.
I agree with you, Ben, on reflection. Still not a patch on the original. But still good.
Also, what is the point of Alex Kramer being there?
When she was off, someone called Vicky Letch took over and did a far superior job. Shame it was only for a week. It is the only time there has been cameraderie between presenter and co-presenter shown so marvellously on screen. Plus the only time, to my knowledge, John has been called "handsome" on television. If anyone missed it, John and Vicky [on Vicky's last day] shared a kiss in silhouette before they were taken off camera for the credits.
It reminds me of the time on the ITV Lunchtime News in 2000, when John Suchet kissed Julia Somerville because she was leaving to join the ITN News Channel only.
If Going For Gold really does need two presenters, let it be Vicky and John. And get rid of Alex. Good God, she's awful.
Also, does anyone know when this current series of Going For Gold ends? It surely can't be all-year round.

I have seen a few episodes, and I have to agree you could cut 30mins out the show or more direct the phone in! it so bad it bad,
and its not like its in between rounds, it in between contestant questions
I dare say if challenge brought it might look so much better with have the stuff cut out!!
