OK, here's an interesting problem...
We all know the major UK broadcasters have a remit to broadcast emergency public information during any form of emergency, be it war, terror attack, gas leak, floods etc

How do you think they would carry on broadcasting if an EMF bomb were fired, say over London?

Even the telephone network would cease to operate (the telephone system being the Governments other form of communicating to the public during a national crisis)

Which takes marginally less time than asking here.

Its a terrifying notion, and its almost unthinkable that it wont happen.

Presumably critical systems for Government will be held in secure shielded bunkers, but without an infrastructure above ground there will be nothing short of chaos.

Techy Peep starts a campaign to bring back valve radios haha Very Happy

and the scary thing is, EMF bombs are reasonably easy to make.
OMG, I just thought.. MI5 and the FBI are probably trying to find me right now for even saying such things hehe

I am pretty sure, but will gladly be corrected by a certain member that the MoD have sites at naval Bases around the UK where critical emergency operations can be carried out from.

I always get a wierd feeling when i think abut these types of things. I am scared about the effects about a trident or EMF hitting the capital, but exitied and inqusitive about what would really happen.

Also what genually concerns me, is the fact i live 2km from a Nuclear Submarine Base [HMNB Devonport] and in Somerset is Hinkley point Nuclear Power Plant!

Who's asking if "Britain" as a country has the capabilities, I'm thinking more along the lines of a terror attack Smile
And, erm, Janner.. I'd move if I were you, I value my capabilities to produce healthy kids Smile

edit: Sorry if the comment about kids upset anyone, I realised after posting it could be considered tasteless Embarassed

They're both kind of the same thing Mark.. a pulse uses less energy than a continual force (that'll be the P and the F).
(Techy Peep doesnt want to go into great detail about such devices, just in case MI5 etc are watching hehe)

But whichever we are talking about, the result is the same. So the problem remains... How would the Government get it's message across to its people?

edit: On a similar note, I used to love walking around WH Smiths & Woolworths in the days of pre-recorded audio cassettes, cable wound around my torso and hooked up to a PP3 battery rofl. Ahhh, those were the days hehe Cool
