Can someone tell me what GMTV is all about?
I've endured a number of hours this week and all they've been doing is taking a 'sneaky preview' of television shows/programmes on just about every other channel. Is this ITV's new morning promotional tool to remind viewers 'whats on the telly later tonight?'
It is just painfully awfull. Oh, and at the top of the hour, we'll do just a bit of token news with Penny!
Fiona spends more time looking at the coffee table than 'down the tube' (camera) She talks all over her guests and never lets them finish what they have to say and quite clearly never listens to a word they say - but then, when you're the governors wife, you can get away with anything!
I hope that when it comes up to re-franchise GMTV - they let it flow down the plug hole.

You may be right. And yet you can't argue with the viewing figures and the revenue it pulls in through advertising. It may not be your cup of tea (or mine!) but it sure as hell is a lot of people's cups of tea!

Fingers crossed ITV, with the money they'll be saving from dumping the News Channel, can buy the remaining stake in GMTV owned by Disney (or whoever it is), and then have a morning programme on ITV1 for the brassy Scott Chisholm, who I believe has done a sterling job.

In his Talk Radio days he was awesome, and it really does come across just as well on TV too - an excellent (and hopefully not shortlived) acquisition.

I've never ever looked upon GMTV as a serious news programme, what is it - an hour of news first thing and then crap sofa talk for the remaining two and a half hours? It's rubbish. It tries to be too many things, and it just doesn't work for me. Obviously it works for Mum's around the country.

I just hope Channel 4's new Dermot O'Leary show will be able to take GMTV's mantle and open up the chances of seeing a proper news effort on ITV1.

You're kidding right? As much as I loathe GMTV, there is no way on earth that ITV would ever replace it with Scott Chisholm. The ratings (which, as a commercial broadcast, are ITV's point for existence) would fall off a cliff. Having watched him this morning go on about art with his studio guest for an extended period of time, I couldn't help but wonder exactly where he's meant to fit on an ITV station. Mornings on the ITV News Channel - possibly fair enough. Breakfast on ITV1 - not a chance.

There's no chance ITV will fully own GMTV, my uncle's friend now works for advertsing and ITV is only allowed a maximum of 75%.
GMTV will remain on air for as long as the tv exists.
