Slightly related, good old YouTube has a clip "LNN was 10 years old in 2002, there was a big party and some awards were given out. These are the nominations for Biggest On Air Mistake" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZnhjiEDZ0g *

The GMTV one is exactly like what some regions had today by the sounds of things but it's the LWT problem that is just fantastic - love the announcer's reaction.

* Contains nudity and swearing!

I bet Peter Lewis was shocked since someone at LNN accidentally switched to RTL showing softcore porn. Laughing Laughing

So how many regions did this actually effect then? Just those controlled by the Southern Transmission Centre?

Well my region, stv central was fine. We did have a black screen for about a minute, though.

All i can say is thank the lord we have such beautifull things like Sky+. I have the Emma incident in full on the hard drive (just wish i had a way of getting it on to a pc). The look on her face when they twigged it was all going out live was just fantastic. It certainly sounded like something devious in going on in the lives of some at Anglia.

On another level though how can this happen to all regions at the same time? i thought the regions opt out individually? Was it just a rather embarrasing mess up of timings at GMTV? Is anyone able to shed any technical light over what happened or what maybe happened? I'd be interested to know.

Wish I had Emma on my hard drive......but I digress. Looks like a cock up at LNN switching to the local newsrooms ahead of time and then switching back to them again later to make things more hilarious. LNN have total control over this so it's down to them.
Can't forgive WCtv for playing ball and actually putting out a bulletin when everyone else was asleep at the switch. If you have the Emma incident and can get it onto tape from your sky machine I'm sure some kind soul near you can upload it for us all to see. Smile

Radio 1 Newsbeat were appealing today for anyone who had this taped.

Go on David, invest in a £30 TV card Smile Sounds like priceless TV!

The story is now on BBC News Online too although no-one as yet seems to have picked up on the fact that the incident seemed to have affected the whole ITV network. Anglia's must just have been the funniest!
