Is it going to be renamed ITV Breakfast?!?!?!

I would not think so???????

GMTV is one channel, ITV is another.

but don't they use ITV's transmitters & airspace etc.

Yes but that makes no difference. GMTV is one channel on air during ITV1/2 downtime. Just because TV listings make it look like a morning programme on ITV1, does not mean it is. Thats why when ITV ask to be on air betwen 6:00 and 9:25 (For F1 or something) GMTV have to make up elsewhere and end up on ITV's normal time say from 11am or something.

Ah that explains why up on the roof was still on at 10:15 the other week

Oh, they should rename it TV-am. Is the TV-am logo still copyright? It would be nice to see the return of TV-am to the screens (albeit just the programme names and theme). One final thing: please remove Eamonn and Fiona from our screens!

It's likely that they will be going soon, as Fiona has admitted that when her contract is up she's going to run some hotel in France and you can very clearly tell that Eammon is fed up, plus the amount of time he has been on GMTV is reducing every year. I hope they go, can't abide GMTV to be honest.

If it was up to me I would rather have TV-am back on.

The TV-am logo and name are both still registered trademarks:

Look on http://www.patent.gov.uk/ for trademark numbers:

1277777
1277778
1277779
1277780
1278409
1278410
1278411
1278412
1278413
1278414

Most (if not all) of these trademarks do not expire until 2007.

According to the records, these trademarks are owned by Crockfords plc. A quick look on the Companies House website gives us company number 1533947:

CAPITAL CORPORATION LIMITED
Non-trading company

Previous Names
Date of Change : Previous Name :
21/04/1995 CROCKFORDS PLC
31/08/1993 TV-AM PLC

Unless the rights to the TV-am name were sold off, it is possible that these trademarks still belong to Capital Corporation Ltd.

GMTV Needs a Major Re-Launch.

I used to watch GMTV every day until a couple of years ago, I prefer Breakfast on BBC now.

At one time BBC used to be too serious, now they have a mix.

GMTV is so un-professional, they don't even show Regional News on time and they cut the Regional Opt-Outs down to Three, which is ridiculous.

Kate Garraway is good and so is Andrew Castle, Ben Shepherd isn't too bad either.

They should have the two main presenters on from 06:00-09:25 and have an experienced Presenter doing News on the half-hour, followed by Regional News.

The new set should be more professional, with a nice live backdrop of London, hence London Tonight's former studios. It would be nice if the had the ITV colours or if not, a nice warm-look which would look good all year round.

I think the viewing figures tend to make your statements about the "need" for a change redundant, Benjamin.

GMTV (like it or not) has the largest overall audience share in the morning, and by far the largest female audience. This is due in no small part to be being very informal and magazine based, with little or no reliance on hard (or regional) news.

I doubt they would change the mix to win back people who are obviously better served by BBC Breakfast.

Just out of interest, where is the current GMTV set? is it in the old LWT building? because i know that that is where this morning is filmed and things like blankety blank

Yes, GMTV have the studio at The London Studios (Studio 7 IIRC) the space they are now in used to be the former staff canteen.
