BL
Understood the points here - but maybe the show isn't pitched at your level?
There are many expectations from GMTV, but the bottom line is it's a programme split in tone and content, aimed at varied viewers across a morning. That's a tough task, especially when handling complicated or sensitive subjects - such as sex, etc...
For example;
6am: its men getting ready for work - domestic and international news issues of the day.
7am: it's stressed mums and older kids getting ready for school - news, showbiz, gossip, issues.
8am: its calmer mums and younger kids - news, gossip, showbiz, talking points, human interest.
9am: as 8, but with more mums chilling out - Fashion, gossip, talking points, female culture.
You get the idea.
I simply don't understand the argument about the content.
Citing an example of a particular story as crass (And I'm not pointing fingers), is like comparing chalk and cheese. Taking into account the audience changes, what time did it run in the morning?
If it gets an audience, it must be working - and it's been trouncing BBC Breakfast, day-on-day for 8 years, except when there is a major international news story and people instinctually turn the safety of Auntie's bosom. (Not the case in 2005 F.Y.I)
With that in mind - of course the mindset may be 'if it ain't broke...', and that may explain the minor annual changes. I think a realistic expectation would be for a medium re-launch.
Gosh want a ridiculous chapter and verse.

To be fair, I thought people were being a little harsh on the show but I caught a bit of this morning where they did a whole piece on the affair of Jude Law, complete with vox pop views from people on the street of what Sienna should do, some magazine columnist on the sofa and 'let us know what you think / your comments' text ticker scrolling across the bottom of the screen! No wonder Eamonn left..
