The Newshour titles are very American-ised, theme music is bland.
Notice that they have moved the news desk closer to the sofa, and put more parts to the sofa, and we can see almost full body of the weather presenter.
Just to comment again, I have listened to the music again, but its weird, it sounds wrong but it sounds right. Its hard to explain its a love/hate thing I think with that music.
I don't think I've ever seen an american news programme looking anything like this using bright yellow and blue
Exactly - not even American designers will use those colours!! I think this looks worse than some American news opening titles, but I do think GMTV can do a lot better with their graphics. Although one problem it seems they've always had is keeping to one style. It's always a mish-mash of different colours and graphics.
The e-mail mrwilliams got from GMTV makes sense (although I'm a bit surprised they spoke to you about the graphics, usually nobody can give out any info), the insider bloke mentioned a "stage one", so there could well be more to come.

I do believe he was mainly talking about non-graphic changes though, such as a change in content, although 'new look' always gets taken as new look graphics on this forum
But last night our insider told us there would be a new theme, there was for the newshour, but I was expecting a change to the main GMTV Today theme aswell. I don't particularly like GMTV, and I am not naive enough to think a huge great new look would have appeared.
But you're naive enough to believe the every word of a forum poster who claims he's an insider?
Looks like he was talking bo**ocks all along...hate to say i told you so.
Actually a few pages back he said it wasn't going to be changed as much as originally planned. Apparently also this was "Stage 1"
The music, well I like it, morning music, but not really for a news programme. Anyway I heard that before, I think it is in some libary music? Anyone know?
Just to catch-all the comments here.
On the NH gfx - it's a love/hate thing.
On the NH music - don't bother trying to listen to it in mono. It's pro-logic stereo panning across left & right, front & rear.... you know, sort of modern?
Yes - sofa longer, weather has new gfx and now full screen.
A few word changes at the top of the progamme.
I wouldn't pay much heed to what MrWilliams is saying.
And stage 1... ah yes... watch this space.
I like the Newshour, but it lets itself down by running features to be included later in GMTV Today.
For example in recent weeks, spending a large amount of time on the GMTV Interactive Wedding, and running those Keith Chegwin / Jono Coleman competitions. They are not news, in my opinion they should be features just for GMTV Today.
ps. Is there any reason they've dropped "GMTV" from the Newshour titles?

Not really. People have to get away from the idea that GMTV is a programme. It's not, it's a channel, a breakfast franchise on ITV, running from 0600 to 0930.
On that channel there are three programmes during weekdays - 'Newshour', 'Today', and 'LK Today' - of course 'Entertainent Today' on Fridays. Kids shows at the weekend.
The decision to include GMTV in some titles is purely for branding and awareness.
Plus The News Hour has always been known as The News Hour, or The Retuers News Hour on GMTV or whatever it was, but I guess it's up to anyone whether they mention GMTV or not.
GMTV Today is a name that never sunk into alot of people, people still call it GMTV, but saying that, it was called GMTV until 2000. But TV-am also had the same problem, very few people called the main programme Good Morning Britain, often being called simply TV-am.
I don't think I'll ever be able to take GMTV seriously in its current state. It comes across as cheap and poorly resourced - every single refresh is a disappointment, with the same gharish graphics and amateur looking production.
