Just listened to the music . Its stupid but its good, again I would have stuck to the last one, do you think that GMTV made the newshour titles themselves? The new titles are really bland.
I hate the newshour titles,how could they get rid of those fantastic red and blue ones? plus the new image behind the news presenter yuck. I have lost all faith in GMTV now. What a big disappointment, they should have kept things how they was. The red and blue news hour titles really suited the programme, and give it a good feeling, these are bad. As for the music, I do not know as my sound is broke on my computer.
I would agree that the last Newshour titles ( red and blue ) were a lot better, as was the music. The new music sounds really cheesy. As for the new news presenter backdrop, it seems awfully similar to the kind they had circa. 2000/1. The red and blue map of the world was a lot nicer. I am under the impression that the new Newshour titles are trying to be more in line with the Today titles?
I don't get why the timers keep repeating from 6 to 7 - surely it would've been better for the titles to start at six, include the milliseconds, and finish on seven. The idea is good, but it looks unfinished and very messy. There is so much mess its hard to comprehend what exactly is going on. The logo itself is probably the worse I've ever seen from GMTV. They've gone overboard on the metal/glass, and the random movements of just about everything is so very wrong!
As for the astons, I like them, but they're not the easiest to read when there is a messy picture underneath (see bottom image on the left, at the link below). I see no difference in the weather graphics, apart from the bigger symbols and font change.
The music is very thumpy, the old theme ran more smoothly. This music could be nice if cleaned up and tweaked a little. See the "From break" video - the bed is far too thumpy when people are talking over it.
Looking at the various caps, it reminds me of an American Local News programme, especially the opening titles, just ugggh!
The astons are okay but could probably do with being more opaque. They are very similar in style to the ITV News ones, although the Live aston does look a little bit lost where it has been put.
The weather screen has been made bigger aswell but ive been listening to them titles for news hour and the music is quite good after a while and the titles arnt good as there's no real logo to the programme but the titles are Okay.
I wouldn't mind the titles if they finished better - the ending as it is is a complete mess.
The other graphics are a mess as well - they've got about four different fonts, and the new astons bear no relation whatsoever to the split-screen graphics etc. The Live bug looks incredibly tabloidy to me. Why bother making astons in a completely different style, with a different font, if the rest of the graphics are staying the same?
It's a mess, but to be honest that's what I've come to expect of GMTV - both in presentation and content!
And you wonder why they never change the GMTV Today titles or music. If anyone from GMTV are reading now they'll probably change it all back tommorow!
This happens every year, everyone gets over excited and then immediately hates the minor changes that have been made.
Can people stop using the term 'american', it seems to be just a generic negative comment that doesn't mean anything. I don't think I've ever seen an american news programme looking anything like this using bright yellow and blue

I disagree - I think it's a valid term - if you look at American news presentation, I find that there is a definite distinction in style to that of most British news presentation.
At around 10:00am this morning I contacted GMTV just to ask if all the new graphics were permanent and to ask why they did not change GMTV today, and to my surprise they conatcted me at around 4:50pm via email and said this was just a trial run and they will be trying a variety of different presentations over the next fortnight. They stated that this was the first stage of their refresh and they are having problems with the new GMTV today graphics and will rectify the problem as soon as they can.
So who knows what will be appearing on our screens by the end of the month. I do agree that there were quite a few changes with GMTV this morning and to be honest I prefered the look they had before. I do think they could of done better. Not just with the graphics but with the set. New props, backdrop etc.
I love the new live dog though, very nice. Also the GMTV Today titles seem very out of place with the newshour ones. The newshour seems more matt, and GMTV Today is nice and shiny an polished.
