Can someone please tell me if my understanding of the word "re-launch" is correct?. As it seems to be used far too lightly on this place. I've always thought re-launch meant a whole new beginning, On here it seems to mean a new set wall, or a different coloured clock. A show re-launching involves new presenters and on screen look, set and major format changes...Possibly even a new name. GMTV
is not
re-launching. Next weeks shows will be exactly the same as last weeks. The same set of presenters introducing the same sh***y stuff. A different colour set (and possibly new on screen presentation) will be the only noticeable difference. Such minor changes i believe are classed as "new look" not "re-launched"
Relaunch or revamp = A whole new look. New graphics, maybe new or a different version of the current theme tune, a new or tweaked set, but not necessarily new presenters. GMTV have done this - new graphics and music in 2000, the titles have changed pretty much every year since then. New desk/table, new sofas, etc.
Rebrand = A new name/logo, new graphics, new music, new everything, but again, not necessarily new presenters. I'd probably class this years big changes to ITV News as a rebrand.
New look = New graphics, but not necessarily new music, set or presenters. Again, GMTV have done this, for example the change from the flat GMTV Today 'smokey' circle with the lines going through, to the brighter bolder 3D titles.
A refresh = Tweaks to the set, graphics, music, and/or titles. Sky News are probably a good example with the fairly recent changes.
These changes to GMTV sound very interesting but I'd try not to get over-excited with the thought of big changes, because the usual routine is you sit down at the TV and expect something completely different - but the same thing comes on as normal. I wouldn't be surprised if the titles change though, as they are changed quite often.
And as for the webcam - I really don't think it's on! It's just somehow showing the same image. Or maybe if there
is
a new set, its in a different studio. But if they aren't changing studios then there can't really be that much of a change happening to the current set if that webcam
is
on.
Do they still show the Sunday programme? If so, maybe the changes will start after that.
I always thought ' relaunch ' was a complete new look, and a ' revamp ' just minor changes every few years etc. In the case of GMTV I hope it is a ' relaunch '.
When I read that someone had said that Kate had said that they were to have a makeover I was thinking a bit of paint, perhaps recovering the sofa. But by the sounds of that piece from the mirror today it sounds like everything's going to be new.
I'm not sure what to think of the curved chair description.
Chair to me equals a seat for one person, anything else and it's a sofa or a bench.
It will be interesting what they come out with, and whether it will look nice.
I'm thinking along the lines of many colours, perhaps reds, oranges, maybe yellows, very autumnal, white areas, and very modern.
Which means we are going to end up with something that looks like Dick & Dom's bungalow!
I wonder whether it's true about the graphics.
I do like the current titles, I'd like to see a new clock and astons, but I hope they don't use the website style logo with the two squares as used on the promos, unless they make then sparkly and nice!
IT'S been on our screens every weekday for the past 11 years, but it's finally time for the GMTV sofa to say goodbye (not literally, of course, because furniture can't talk).
The breakfast show receives a makeover next week and there will be a new round-the-corner style chair instead of just a new cover.
But rather than chuck it away, bosses have decided to auction off Eamonn and Fiona's seat for charity. So if you fancy owning it, now's your chance.
Log on to www.gm.tv from mid-September and that saggy old sofa could be yours.
Don't know what they mean by a round the corner chair, surely a chair only seats a single occupant, wheras a sofa is suitable for many people ?
It all sounds a bit too modern, and as we know, the GMTV audience don't really like change. Look how long the new theme tune lasted, wasn't this as a result of viewer complaints ?

The only thing I can think of is something along the lines of what Liquid News had for their last set. Although thats a sofa really. I suppose they have to change the sofa for framing reasons, but It'll be interesting to see how far they will go when changing things. I wonder if they will try something modern and fresh or if they will stick with the TV-am inspired theme.
Are they moving to the former London Tonight studio ?i remember they were in there about three yrs ago when the current studio was out of use .That would be a great move for them .

Nope because Loose Women are in there at the moment and that series isn't over yet. But it is a bit of a shame as it's the perfect studio for GMTV to use.

Typical tabloid rubbish really, firstly they didn't even have a sofa in 1993, secondly changing the sofa isn't really that big a thing as they are making out they've probably changed it about 3 or 4 times in the last 10 years.
"A new round the corner chair", that description could apply to what they have already.
By the way to confirm Kate DID say something at 9.20am yesterday morning, something along the lines of 'we're changing the studio over the weekend so on Tuesday it'll all look different' so there!
Sorry to be so pedantic, but boringusername, could you please change your user name. I have been a member of this forum for around a year and a half, and obviously others could confuse our posts. Surely, this will not be beneficial for either of us?
