Nice shot at the end. Does anyone have pictures they can upload.

I noticed on the news, the pictures on the reports all seemed to fill the screen (ie. no black bars at the sides). Have they invested heavily in 16:9, or are they just cropping everything to buggery?

They're cropping it all to 16:9 by the look of things unfortunatly.

The sofa I think I heard Kate say is BBC's Olympics in Athens sofa, or was she talking about the athletes?

I'd say the backdrops will be tweaked/replaced.
The controlable three-colour bulb 'practicals' built into the set are brilliant - but could be used better.
Tracking shots will need time to bed down.
Animation not really used on the supers. Maybe a soft launch later for these.

Any changes to the GMTV Northern Ireland news opt-outs? Are they still using the old GMTV logo on the astons?

No change to the GMTV Belfast opts... that I can spot! And they're 4:3 too!

Where are the boffins at Havelock House when you need them?

Probably all still in bed I imagine Laughing

It seems strange that so many times the ablility to aspect ratio switch is magically lost after the main content switches to 16:9.

You've been given the reasons for many of those changes a number of times now. Clearly you don't have the ability to understand.

I do like the backdrop actually.
I don't see what everyone's problems are with the backdrop. It's a better view than if I were to look out of my window, and unlike the last one looks real!
The lights are nice as they add different coloured backgrounds on the walls, very clever.

So are the aston's supposed to have more animation? At least these use a bit, even though you can't see it that well!

I'd have loved the old new music (if you get my drift - from last September) to have been used as well MoD, it was the same tune but sounded grander, I'd have just got rid of those annoying electric sounding bits on top of the music.

It does make it look more spacious, but i think this could be due to the lack of rear projection screen so there is more room to use for the set.

I wonder if the performance area will continue the set, or if it will stay the same blank space.

I am really impressed by everything about this relaunch, bar the lack of change in music, which I'd have loved to see them use again.

I do understand the reasons with CBBC, but there doesn't seem to be any logical reason with GMTV2. There's no live studio, no vision mixing, there's no reason why they can't broacast as they were before.
