I think with hindsight it became clear that Eamonn's beef was with GMTV management, and he took it out on Anthea, for which he has apologised. Anthea herself has apologised for being a bit of a brat, and they are friends now.

I can't say for certain, but I'm sure I read something about it being the shift towards fluff over 'proper' news.
Lorraine Kelly also revealed she and Eamon didn't get on at GMTV....insinuating he didn't appreciate being overshadowed by women. They too though have since kissed and made up. There's more than a whiff of Ron Burgundy with Eamon.

Well, despite what her daughter suggests, you don't get "sacked" and then carry on working for them for another twenty years, which she has clearly done. She was dropped from the main show and moved to the post-9am slot, which is hardly "the sack".

Correct. Johnson & Johnson would only sponsor the slot if Lorraine fronted it so she was brought back, and the success of that led to a new contract.
