I still don't see what was wrong with the one that was introduced with the current set.

The depth of field was wrong, the height it was taken from was wrong, it looked wrong. I liked the original RI:SE set, I think large screens can work - except in the Sky News set, which serves no purpose at all.

The money limitations aside (there isn't any for expensive re-launches) There are physical limitations in studio 5. It's small for one thing. The lighting rig is ridiculously low, and the facilities (rented from TLS) are rubbish. The sets do pretty well to fit into the space. And before you ask, I have no idea why there isn't a move to another studio - except for the fact studio 5 has green room, make-up, etc close by

Suspect it is still a lot bigger and better equipped than the studio that Breakfast came from until recently... (It might have a higher lighting grid as well...)

Not from the wide of Breakfast I've seen. It's got 3 or 4 foot on studio 5

The backdrop did look a bit odd, but not that strange to me anyway. Any ideas why they just abandoned it and didn't go for a new backdrop? And for all these years I was thinking that it was viewers complaints.

I really did like the RI:SE mk1 set, a set that could change everyday of the week.

But I take it that studio 5 is too small to go for a set similar to that.
A main desk set up for GMTV would be strange, and different, and move over to the sofa for any interviews, but could work quite well, certainly something different to currently.

Just seen the LK today titles and they haven't really changed other than the colour scheme. I really don't know what they were thinking it looks very weird! It all looks a bit amateur to be honest as does the onscreen spinning aston 'LK today' on the split screen. I think that this becomes the problem when they do a half-hearted revamp and update. It doesn't work!!!!!!! If only they would invest in getting some more professional lookung graphics!

Not Breakfast now - Breakfast as it was when it came from the studio used by the News Channel now. (When the sofa was on the floor not a rostrum)

Breakfast now comes from a main-block studio on permanent hire to News - it must be around 3500 square feet. They only use a small portion of the space available - partially because the Barco walls are a long way in from the fire lane (so there is a lot of empty space around the edges of the set), and even then they only occupy half of the Barco set with their sofa.

However when they were in the studio now used by the News Channel, that used pretty much every square inch of space (there is only enough space behind the Barco walls to get maintenance access, and the right hand wall is shorter than the left to allow for a decent sized door!) - and a very wide angle lens! Cameras were quite close to the backwall - and in some cases in a position where if they were manned (they're mainly remote) you'd have had to operate them from the side not behind (as there wouldn't be space to stand!)

This refresh for LK Today is very strange. Was there any reason to add the red, yellow and blue to the turquoise and cream set up? The wallpaper on the set looks nice, but what are those red panels about? I prefered the previous idea to make it look like blinds over windows, as I think it pulled off quite nicely.

Why have LK Today's graphics been dropped for the usual GMTV graphics wih the LK Today logo slapped on top? Even the astons are usual GMTV, is it to add consistency, even though you can surely tell it's GMTV by the clock.

Wasn't GMTV initially fronted from behind the desk when it started out in an attempt to differentiate it from TV-am. It was a big flop of course and they soon had to basically imitate TV-am in an attempt to win viewers.

They had both, a desk infront of the fire and then a studio which was more like a house, so they had a sofa and what would be best described as a breakfast table, but don't forget they didn't do the News seperately so the main anchors would have to do the News bulletins too.

But as you say it bombed very quickly and within 6 months it was more like TV-am, fair enough they tried to be different, but when Breakfast News and The Big Breakfast are kicking your arsé, then I guess they had no choice.

I guess viewers didn't want change really....

Ulrika is to replace Fiona according to today's Mirror.
Complete bollocks, not a shred of truth in it, no conversation has been had with her. Interesting to see most of the names in the frame so far appear to share the same agent...

"Daily Mirror in Invented Story Shocker!"

That would be about right.

Who would make the final decision though? The GMTV bosses or the more powerful executives at ITV?
