She was on STV's "Five Thirty" show last week talking about her new book. They did some vox pops in the street asking what people think of her as a presenter and she got an extraordinarily high approval from everyone.
Everybody whose vox pop was included in the edited package you mean
Well I think you've replied to that in completely the wrong tone. I haven't said you were giving incorrect information, or you shouldn't be here. I was just wondering, like others, how you knew what you were saying.

I don't think it's particularly difficult to work out where 'anoilyrag' is coming from. Not everybody needs it spelling out to them.
And from what I recall on this thread under his previous username, the information has always been spot on.

Apologies, I wasn't implying any tone at all. To answer your question is complicated. I think I'm better informed than most though. Can we leave it at that?
To try and steer this back to GMTV, it was nice to see Fiona back, and I do like what they've done with the weather. Recently I found that the top bar was disapearing off my TV.
I haven't had a chance to catch LK Today, has much changed?
'anoilyrag' Thankyou for answering the question. I agree with what you say i do expect we may see some changes when Fiona leaves. It would fit in quite nicely too - the change in GMTV is marked.
Anyone know what the changes were like to LK today titles? I didnt catch them this morning? Not sure on her new set though!
fanoftv sorry the post is similar i was writing at the same time, but i agree it was nice to see Fiona back. I know she can be a bit OTT but she isnt that bad is she?

It will be strange next September when she doesn't return, but if they do change GMTV in January, it may not seem like the same programme.
I do think that they could do something radical with the set without changing the programme too much. Look at BBC Breakfast, they've had three major set changes from the original corporate but daytime feel, the big sofa over the airport hanger look, and the current banks of screens with sofa, etc. without changing the main feel of the programme. GMTV's sets as much as they have changed over the years have tended to stick with the same layout of sets, as nice as the sets are I would like them to play about with it to change it a bit.

The money limitations aside (there isn't any for expensive re-launches) There are physical limitations in studio 5. It's small for one thing. The lighting rig is ridiculously low, and the facilities (rented from TLS) are rubbish. The sets do pretty well to fit into the space. And before you ask, I have no idea why there isn't a move to another studio - except for the fact studio 5 has green room, make-up, etc close by

In complete fairness for 3 and a half hours every day a bigger studio isn't really necessary for a show of its sort. Some shows like This Morning have a bigger studio but they have more features that requires a lot more space. Although the studio is tiny it does its job well, there probably wouldn't be much difference in terms of set layout anyway so that would just be pointless.
Lorraines set I quite like, but it just looks like they've got 60 Minute Makeover in. I think something similar could work well for GMTV, especially the "windows". I think when eventually there is a new set they should recreate something similar that with a backdrop instead of a giant "window" with a few frames on.

I'm not suggesting a bigger studio, just a change in layout.
Would it work in a similar way to breakfast or how RI:SE mk1 worked having the studio using the length as the width that is seen and having two multipurpose areas, or is there not enough room in the width to get the cameras in, etc. ?
For me the thing that majorly dates the GMTV main set is the backdrop, how the quality is very low, and how it's weirdly lit. If they changed the backdrop and lit it according the weather conditions or the light outside it would improve the set around it.
I still don't see what was wrong with the one that was introduced with the current set. Saying that, the London backdrop used the other week on Richard Arnold's show could make it look a bit different, but then again it is London centric.
