Tmi started at the time GMTV ends - the square is more active by then.

it worked well on TMi. And besides, it will give a view on the working people out and about. Pity they couldnt use that conservatory they used during the works. That was nice.

A move to Leicester Square would be pointless and Leicester Square is associated with entertainment, not news, current affairs and real life stories.
I wouldn't be against a live backdrop similar to what is used on This Morning, but GMTV Today and This Morning are already two very similar shows and by using a similar backdrop they run the risk of practically merging the two shows into one.

Also - the Leicester Square studio was a nice idea that didn't actually work that well as a studio. It was a very odd shape and the seated eye-level shots were far from great.
It is also very obviously London - where for a national show you kind of want a more generic - everywhere but nowhere skyline probably. (I know the US Breakfast shows have NY backdrops - but they are a different kind of show in many cases)

To be fair would the average viewer actually care what music is played or would they be more interested in the content? Most probably wouldn't even notice, GMTV is just background noise for most.
