Fiona is probably off on yet another holiday, she couldn't possibly work for 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year could she?

She probably could, but most people don't.

Fiona will be off until September like she is every year, it's standard practice. Eamonn used to do the same

In the way that the presenters leave for the summer, would it make sense if some of the higher staff at GMTV (such as Fiona's husband) take a summer break?

This could explain some of the attempts at some different presentation elements, they may as well use the summer to try things out rather than change things in September to have people complain that they have to put it back.

I do hope that if or when GMTV come to revamp they go at it full steam and stick to it rather than various past attempts at things where they reverted back because of audience feedback, strangely though the guitar GMTV Today vamp has stayed.

Going on from your point fanoftv, does anyone else remember something GMTV did about 8 or 9 years ago and they sad something called the Café and basically it replaced Today from 7.30am onwards (after an extended Newshour) and it was different totally to what GMTV were else providing.

Shame the summer months cannot be used to experiment, if not later on in the mornings, as I see GMTV Today has got until 9.25am now as we're in the Holidays.

I agree. I don't remember The Café but I do think they should try and experiment a bit more. GMTV Today seems to be a safe bet but even just using Lorraine's slot to try out new types of programming would be adequate IMO. Although he isn't so popular on here, Richard Arnold's trial last year whilst Entertainment Today was off air was a hit because he managed to get a second series and I wouldn't be surprised to see him be permanently on a Friday morning. But I think there should be a little mix for school holidays and other breaks, although not necessarily kids shows. Lorraine usually goes off air for every holiday and GMTV Today is extended. Its a safe bet and its probably cheaper but I don't think it would harm them to put something else out in its place, even if its presented by the GMTV Today hosts. It might bring a new audience to GMTV if they get the show right. As well as that, they can say they've got more shows than Newshour/Today (which by many are thought of as the same programme)/LK Today/Richard Arnold. And if it fails, well at least they've tried.

Yes i remember the Cafe it was fronted by Andrea Mclean, and used to have celebrity guests popping in all morning to the cafe. It only used to be on for an hour as it was back in the days where kids programes started at 8.30 in the holidays.

Talking of Andrea, it seems she is leaving GMTV to present Loose Women full time.

New weather presenter on the way I wonder?

I could see the ITV Weather presenter Becky Mantin who must be taking leave still or has ended her contract with them taking Andrea's position. If I heard correctly this morning she said she has a few months left with GMTV, possibly until September? This departure leads me to think Ben Shephard could be leaving aswell, since he is getting more involved with other projects, 1vs100 and Who Dares Sings, he may want to move away from GMTV.

The GMTV website says day yet to be decided but I can see her leaving on or around August 29th. There are heavy rumours about a relaunch this year and IIRC someone here claimed they know of a company working on new graphics for the show? If not its either another forum or I imagined it. It would make sense to not let Andrea make it through the relaunch.

For a replacement, I'm not actually that sure they would need a permanent one. Clare is in every morning anyway because she produces the weather so I suppose it wouldn't harm her to do it every morning. Of course she needs holidays so I suppose they could just get one on a short term contract to fill in like they did some time last year with Kate Reeves.

Anyone know if GMTV have any plans for any non-childrens programmes at the weekends now that the Sunday Programme has ended?

Do they have a licence requirement to broadcast non-childrens shows at the weekends?

But those programmes don't take up that much of his time.

The last series of 1v100 (8 episodes) was all recorded over the 3rd weekend in Feburary, and Who Dares Sings was recorded over 10 days last month (and the Christmas special will be taped on the 10 August) so actually it's GMTV that is taking up most of his time these days.

That's interesting since she currently job-shares with Jakkie "LA" Brambles-- unless she's leaving Loose Women ?
