GMTV are operating from a scanner on Monday so this is why there wont be any regional news.

Apparently this may also affect ITV's regional 11.10am bulletin. There could be a pan-regional bulletin from Central to include stories from other regions like West and Westcountry.

For those of (like me) who aren't technically minded, what the blazes does that mean? Smile

"Scanner" sounds like, for example, the thing in a supermarket checkout that reads the barcodes! Laughing

In terms of broadcasting-a-TV-show, what the hell does "operating from a scanner " mean?

Cheers Smile

Aha - I was wondering why on earth there were so many O21 Television trucks outside the London Television Centre when I went past yesterday.

But... why is this necessary?

given that the 11:10 Regional news is handled by ITV Playout in the same way as the 1:55, 6 & 10:25 PM I would be very suprised if it has any effect at all.

There was no mention of when the next regional bulletin would be on tonight ITV Wales News - the presenter just told us to go to the ITV Local website!

On Calendar they said the next bulletin would be at 11:10. They didn't mention anything about technical difficulties or why there wouldn't be any regional bulletins during GMTV. They just said they needed "to give Carolyn Hodgson a rest"... (she's the Calendar presenter during GMTV).

Does the GMTV presenter normally do the 11.10 bulletin in most regions or is it one of the 6pm presenters? Certainly here in Wales the GMTV presenter does.

It's generally the GMTV bulletin presenter or someone random who does the 11.10am in the Calendar region

Same for Granada, then its usually one of the Granada Reports presenters who does the 1.55pm.
