Ever since that whole cock-up of the phone in scams there have been a lot of dreadful mistakes on GMTV. They are so embarrasing to watch now it just lets ITV 1 down a lot. The news links are all wrong, and in some cases you get the wrong region being sent to you. Scrap all this "GMTV Today.. TOMORROW" buisness is my opinion and let ITV have a go at an ITV Breakfast Show.
I don't like all this "ITV-isation". I like the fact that GMTV is NOT being ITV Breakfast Show. Isn't losing Central, Yorkshire and Anglia etc bad enough?

That will only ever happen if GMTV either hand back their Licence to Ofcom, which I doubt would ever happen. Or if either ITV gained 100% control of GMTV. Even then you would still have trouble with STV and UTV, as it would effectively give ITV 100% control between 6.00am and 9.25am, so that wouldn't go down too well. The thing is it looks like Disney are reluctant to sell, if they didn't think GMTV was making money they would have pulled out of it years ago, but they're still there. If ITV wanted 100% control I'm sure they would have made Disney an offer, but considering neither has happened I'm guessing that ITV are happy with the status quo.
It's a bit stupid to have a National breakfast franchise in this day and age, but it's still making money so there's no commercial reason to dissolve it. Again in an age of hundreds of channels it's funny that one of the bigger channels is run by about five companies (ITV, STV, UTV, Channel and GMTV) but at the end of the day if it's making a profit I doubt shareholders are gonna be bothered.
Viewers know where they stand with GMTV, they refer it to GMTV, so if they took that away tomorrow you'd probably confuse half the audience, so the GMTV brand in itself is still valuable. Even to this day you still hear people calling it TV-am, that was over fifteen years ago.
I think that GMTV in certain situations, like the really hard-hitting stories and breaking news are still one of the best. There is a sensitivity evident throughout all of the interviews for instance the interview with Carol Saldinack - it was hard hitting and genuine. The problem i think is that GMTV seem to have lost their way. It is iconic and in my view gets a little too much stick. The fact is that if it was that bad it wouldnt have been on air for 15 years would it? I'm not saying it isn't without its flaws but those flaws are not irreversible. Give them a break!!!
Give them a break ! ! ! Yes they need a break for good
GMTV conned everybody with their competitions, the service goes downhill and downhill every week with mistakes etc, you call that quality television ?
Now TV-am were ICONIC ! ! !
I'm sure if the U K lost GMTV, viewers wouldn't be crying into their breakfast or the world wouldn't come to an end
Why do people keeping sticking up for GMTV ?, if GMTV became ITV breakfast or ITV Good Morning etc i'm sure that they couldn'nt provide a service any worse that GMTV currently are ? GMTV used to be good I don't know where it went wrong ?
If they can't even get the local news right what hope have they got with the rest of the programme or service ?
Does anybody no why their is no regional news on Monday? At the end of the Tyne Tees news bulletin on Friday a graphic came up saying 'No news during GMTV on Monday', but I had the TV on mute so missed what the presenter said.

Are regional news inserts even an obligation of the Channel 3 Breakfast Licence? Genuine question.
If not, maybe GMTV are just quietly dropping them!

You know how intelligent they are at GMTV. Perhaps they think it is another Bank Holiday.

On ITV Yorkshire Calendar, Carolyn Hodgson said she wouldn't be doing the regional news on Monday because of technical issues.

"Technical issues" eh? Hmm... the mystery deepens...
There's been several things discssed here on TVF very recently, about various regions having problems with opting in/out of GMTV.
I don't know whether this is a technical issue with GMTV's "opting equipment" (I'm SO not technically minded, forgive me), or with the opting equipment of the region(s). But, if I assume that it's the former, then maybe on Monday GMTV are having something "fixed", to get past the recent spate of problems?

Well in Yorkshire they don't have many regional opting problems tho they have the northern transmission centre. So I think it might be sommat to do with GMTV like you say .
