GMTV are reverting to their old regional news bulletin times; 6:35, 7:05 & 8:05. It doesn't feel like it was that long ago since I said they were changing them (to the current times).

I prefer those times to the current ones as I leave the house for work before the 8.35 so never manage to see it.

It starts from Tuesday. I usually manage to catch the 7.30 update, however its the shortest bulletin so it's rather pointless to watch.

I appreciate you're only talking about the regional bulletin times here, but is this going to be a slowly evolving revamp/relaunch with lots of tinkering over the summer - or is the intention to go for a big relaunch in September? (ie: new set, logo, graphics)

Did anyone else notice that GMTV Today didn't play their main titles this morning at either 7am or 8am, instead they just went straight to the news desk.

They didn't indeed. The reason for the 8am, was because Fiona was doing a live intro from outside the building. Their was no headline sequence as such anyway.

I chuckled last week when I watched the local news opt-out and the newsreader Mark Warr handed to the weather, but we were left with his grinning face for a few seconds. Then a short clip of a car travelling on a motorway which had been featured earlier in the bulletin played. He said "well that's obviously not the weather" and we were left with a static GMTV logo for the rest of the bulletin.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but I noticed today when I switched onto GMTV that the regional opt-out studio is branded " Grampian " in my area rather than any form of STV

That is because STV do not make it.

A wee while ago, GMTV stopped using STV/SMG as its supplier of news bulletins for Central Scotland and Northern Scotland.

Instead, they now get them from Macmillan Media, who presumably have decided that "Grampian" is a better choice of suffix than, say "Northern Scotland". And why not, indeed? Smile

In Northern Ireland, GMTV ditched UTV in favour of Macmillan rather longer ago. (When?)

And it now seems that there's a possiblity of GMTV ditching ITVplc, in favour or another regional news supplier (Macmillan again?), across the rest of the UK fairly soon.

All the Macmillan bulletins only use "GMTV [regional suffix]" branding, not any "Macmillan" branding, unlike most/all of the ITVplc-produced ones.

UTV and GMTV had their falling out in 1994, only a year after GMTV launched. Not sure when Macmillan took over broadcasting, IIRC it was Reuters at first whop provided the NI opt.

Sorry to take this off topic, but who the hell does Princess Fionas makeup? I tuned in this morning to a sunken eyed Fifi. She looks quite skeletal. She looks like she needs a good mixed grill with loads of pots to put some flesh on her bones.
I'd rather see LK on the sofa from 7am.

Oh, right. 1994? Shocked

What did they "fall-out" over?

Seeings as the national "Newshour" was originally Reuters-connected, I suppose it makes sense that they were the initial choice of post-UTV news provider for NI.

Were the pre-Macmillan era NI bulletins also simply "GMTV Northern Ireland" branded? Or even just "GMTV"? Or did they mention "Reuters", or whatever, branding?
