Grrr It does annoy me when there's no LK and GMTV Today continues to 9.25, that they have an extra 8.30 bulletin. They should have it all the time, not just when Lorraine's not there, no consistency Mad

GMTV Today should just end at 8.30am in the first place. I don't see the point (or logic) in having GMTV Today end at 8.38am. Its a bit random ...

I must say that I always prefer it when GMTV Today continues to 9.25 over Lorraine, though I don't think I'm really in Lorraine's demographic.

Agree about the 8.30 bulletin though which would link nicely into the regional, and maybe cut Lorraine down so as not to start until :45?

Will GMTV be considering using the BBC to provide regional news? The BBC already provides the news for S4C, so I can't see any reason why they couldn't do it for GMTV.

Would it even be feasible for the BBC to provide regional news at that time of day to another broadcaster? Baring in mind their own regional news output, and the facilities of the regions, especially those smaller ones.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

The BBC provides news to S4C for a very special reason. When S4C was created, one of its key roles was to provide a home for Welsh language output previously shown on BBC1 Wales and HTV. The BBC provides a certain amount of Welsh language programming to S4C every week - basically the Welsh output which would otherwise have to find a place on 1 or 2.

I can only assume that you're trying to play Devil's Advocate by suggesting that BBC staff and licence fee money should be used to provide local news for a rival broadcaster which is commercially funded. BBC News does not make programmes for other people. lol

I just think they need to get rid of the 8.38am end. But they do have the weather at 8.30am and a regional bulletin at 8.35am so it would make sense to have a bulletin with Penny inbetween just because thats what happens all morning. 8.38am-8.45am could easily be the final pointless interview which is usually really short and would give it a more structured and timed feel considering GMTV Today is supposed to end at 8.35am.

The BBC could actually provide news for a rival broadcaster through its commercial arm (not that it would). I seem to remember this subject cropping up back when Sky News got the Five News contract.

I've just been watching some Sofa Factor clips on gm.tv and saw a clip of Kate and Andrew in a totally different set. Can anyone tell me when and if this has been broadcast. The set looks really nice and bright... very nice if GMTV's relaunch saw something like this.

It is indeed Lorraine's set. They did it up at some point last year I believe. And I'm glad that they did what they did with it, especially the back panels that are now made to look like windows with blinds over them rather than the old LK Today pink/white/black design all over the set.

Would anyone want to see the rounded red sofa go? (I know that it's only been round since the last relaunch, but its been there a few years now).

What about the red, would you like to see a colouring change? I know that it was red before the last relaunch (well more salmon really), and wasn't it that horrible orange tartan pattern a few years ago too?

And what would people like to see if GMTV did have a new set, something totally different, or just a refresh on what they already have?

Hi Members !

When GMTV 1 relaunces I think it needs to go the complete hog and have a full relaunch ! Not just change certain aspects

The set, music, graphics etc ought to be totally new even so much that you wouldn't recognise it from the old previous look, not just re-hash what that have already got !

One reason they need a total revamp is because so that they can't revert back to certain aspects of the old look as they did with the previous revamp after a matter of a few days or a week or so they went back to the old backdrop, changed the desk to a bigger one in front of the sofa, changed the new theme music back to the titles, brought furniture back, brought plants / flowers back etc etc all because a few viewers didn't like the changes !

So what is the point really changing anything when after a few people moan they change things back after a matter of days ? I don't understand it

Also the Title says that GMTV 1 is going to relaunch in September 2008 ! Who has actually said or announced that this is when the changes are going to take place ? Just speculation ?

Why do you keep referring to GMTV 1 ?

Nobody knows if it is going to actually relaunch or not.

The set up they have had for years (sofa in front of a backdrop of london) is iconic to GMTV and should never be changed, but there are a million and one ways they could have the same effect whilst giving it an overhaul. Take Lorraine's set for example. One way would be to have window panels looking out over London rather than a full on view divided up by the windows. I think instead of a screen with an image on they need to either put a real screen behind there or a CGI screen like the ones used on ITV Local News. This would enable them to have a live view so it would be more realistic and would give a nice division of GMTV Newshour and GMTV Today when it isn't getting light at 4am. The theme tune and the (GM) TV logo should never change but they need to overhaul the graphics and start from scratch- whilst keeping the same logo. Currently they have about 2 or 3 different packages which they use which is very unprofessional and inconsistent.
