I think you are betraying your youth in that post. GMTV has only been around for a bit over 15 years. Most of the UK had already grown up before it started broadcasting, and in fact the majority of the UK probably had grown up before Breakfast TV started with Breakfast Time on BBC One and TVam in 1983.
We've only had Breakfast telly for 25 years - and lots of us can remember the days before then - and before Channel Four launched for that matter...
Those of us who were around and of an age to be critical when GMTV launched probably have a different view - the "F Factor" launch pairing of Fiona Armstrong and Michael Wilson didn't come close to "national treasure" status I'm afraid - and the recent, deeply cynical, premium rate phone line scandal of recent years can hardly be considered "national treasure" worthy either...
In fact I'm struggling to remember any major aspects of it that are national treasure-worthy - other than Lorraine Kelly.
Ahh noggin you similarly aged old goat. It's just you and me (and Our Lord Nick) who can say these things. Possibly Nicky Schiller too - but he's had a lot of work done and is looking younger all the time.
And ditto at Lorraine.

I agree. Some people will think I've lost the plot with this next statement but I think GMTV is somewhat of a national treasure, and something that a lot of people have grown up watching in the mornings.
