I agree. Some people will think I've lost the plot with this next statement but I think GMTV is somewhat of a national treasure, and something that a lot of people have grown up watching in the mornings.

I think you are betraying your youth in that post. GMTV has only been around for a bit over 15 years. Most of the UK had already grown up before it started broadcasting, and in fact the majority of the UK probably had grown up before Breakfast TV started with Breakfast Time on BBC One and TVam in 1983.

We've only had Breakfast telly for 25 years - and lots of us can remember the days before then - and before Channel Four launched for that matter...

Those of us who were around and of an age to be critical when GMTV launched probably have a different view - the "F Factor" launch pairing of Fiona Armstrong and Michael Wilson didn't come close to "national treasure" status I'm afraid - and the recent, deeply cynical, premium rate phone line scandal of recent years can hardly be considered "national treasure" worthy either...

In fact I'm struggling to remember any major aspects of it that are national treasure-worthy - other than Lorraine Kelly.

Ahh noggin you similarly aged old goat. It's just you and me (and Our Lord Nick) who can say these things. Possibly Nicky Schiller too - but he's had a lot of work done and is looking younger all the time.

And ditto at Lorraine.

Enough of the aged - I'm far from ancient - I just have a very good memory and first sat in an OB truck at the age of 5...

Nicky hasn't aged in 10 years - but I've never managed to spot the scars so he must have a painting in his attic!

Regional news bulletin times have been changed on GMTV, this will start from tommorow. 06:35, 07:35 & 08:33 are the new times (approx), this was advertised on the Tyne Tees regional news slot on Friday, I don't know if it was advertised in the other regions or not.

No doubt their will be talk of Ben winning the Celebrity Sport Releif boxing on tommorow's GMTV Today.

I think those times are better for the regional news - the 06.35 and 07.05 were too close I felt. Also having the last bulletin at around 8.30am means not quite such a big gap to the next bulletin on ITV1 at around 11.10am.

I'm never usually up that early but I noticed this morning that here in Northern Ireland we have a new backdrop for the news. Anyone know when this was introduced? I see from Wikipedia that GMTV Grampian (and GMTV Scotland I assume) have similar backdrops so were they all introduced together?

The new backdrop for GMTV NI was introduced just a week or so after the launch of GMTV Scotland , which was at the beginning of December.

Do you have a Millenium Wheel in Northern Ireland too now?

And why is Jade Goody presenting the news?

Yes, the 'Belfast Wheel' was also featured in UTV's New Year ident this year. It arrived in Belfast around November time I think.

And Laughing at the Jade Goody comment!

I watched the 7.35 regional news this morning and I noticed they are still doing short regional forecasts so it must be a regular item now. The presenter on Tyne Tees then closed the bulletin, following this we were left with a wide-shot of the whole studio for a good minute, then the GMTV Today ident - did somebody get their timings wrong?

The 7.35am buliten this morning for Anglia seemed to have ended too quick. Long pause on the weather maps and then the GMTV logo.

Manchester also has a wheel (better than the one in Belfast), it's in Exchange Square:

There's one in York, too, though I hadn't realised it was the one which used to be in Manchester. Well, if Wikipedia is correct, anyway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yorkshire_Wheel
