I noticed the Tyne Tees regional news opt-out had no 'itvlocal.com' dog, but just 'North East News', and also on their plasma screen it now has the GMTV logo on.
Yea I saw that on Calendar today it just said " Calendar News" and about the plasma screens it isn't new on Calendar they have been using the GMTV logo on them for a while tho I don't like the green highlight thingy around it lol.
GMTV using the live backdrop studio back in 2001. The content seemed better back then instead of the parody it has become today. They definitely need a new studio. It would be good to see the studio divided into 4 instead of 3 so that Newshour and Today don't have to share a set then each show can have its own identity instead of it coming across as the same show split into different sections. GMTV Sunday (I've forgotten the name) should just move to a different studio completely to have a separate identity as well or share the Newshour set.
I wish Ben would just stick to Entertainment Today, never liked him doing Today, i know the programme itself is not hard news and shouldnt be, but whenever he is interviewing politicans, or anyone, he just reminds me of a 'hunk' turning up to a 80s School Reunion.
I big shake up is needed in terms of presenting. I think Fiona and Andrew should be let go, with Kate made full time presenter Mon - Fri, with a new male co-host, someone like Steve Dixon (Sky News). I know it may sound wierd, but its time they got someone 'fresh'.
Rather than having a review and axing certain presenters the lot should be initially axed with some brought back in. I think Newshour should be presented by John and Penny from Monday-Wednesday, and Fiona and Andrew on a Thursday and Friday. Either that for Fiona or Priya should become the second GMTV Newshour presenter with Fiona actually getting her own show or co-presenting with Lorraine Kelly. I think that would be interesting having two female co presenters for a female skewed show. I know a lot of people don't like Fiona but I don't think she is actually that bad and it would be a huge blow for GMTV to lose Fiona as people associate GMTV with Fiona.
GMTV Today is the one that needs the biggest overhaul. Out of the four current presenters, only one should stay- Kate. Kate and a new man should present Monday-Wednesday with Amanda Sergeant (who is currently on maternity leave) doing a Thursday and a Friday alongside another new man. Priya should do the news bulletins on a Thursday and Friday with Penny remaining Monday-Wednesday.
Ben should be dropped completely because he can move on to bigger and better things as he is only just really starting out. Kate arguably should quit on her own accord because she too could go on to bigger and better things. She could easily get herself a decent presenting job, or she could be picked up by the BBC or ITV News. Amanda could replace Kate with Andrea replacing Amanda.

That view looked lovely, obviously the silver/metal beams were very cold, but if they put there set in there, it would be very different, though very GMTV.
Couldn't they achieve something similar in their current studio by having a barco projection system, or by using a new backdrop like that did when they installed this set (albeit for a week or two).
The thing is that you may get rid of the presenters but will it solve the problem - i don't think so. I think that it is the producers and directors etc that should be changed. Martin Fizzell in my opinion has far too much control where his Mrs is concerned. I think that if they kept the team they have now but shook things up a bit behind the scenes we would notice a difference!!
Ok Fiona is annoying but i agree she is really iconic with the show and she isn' t that bad. Its like getting rid of Lorraine. It just wouldn't work.
The newshour does seem a little more newsy at the moment so if they carry on then it should be much better. As we have said GMTV today seems to have a bit more of an individual identity now so that is good. I t
As for studio they really need to either move or have a BIG rethink. I think that they need to experiment with it a bit more or gove Lorraine her own smaller studio if one is available OR she uses the current today one. Then it would give them a bigger space to do what they want. Also i think that they should have a backdrop like This Morning's - they are both on the south bank so a live shot of the Thames would be great. Even something like The Andrew Marr show on BBC would be quite good.
As for graphics it surprises me that GMTV can go with no continuity for 18 months. Two different versions of the ident and the theme tune. It really isnt very professional.
News Hour has been the same since 2005 and that needs a change. Make it more individual and more newsy!

As GMTV pay the regional companies for the opts, they want people to visit their website and not ITV Local, so thats why the dog has gone.
Their was a technical fault with the regional news, in the 8.10 slot. Fiona introduced the regional news, it then went to a wide shot of the studio, where she could be heard saying 'Oh, no were not going to the regional..' but was cut of by the GMTV ident. This stayed on for slightly longer for the Tyne Tees area, it looked as if their wasn't going to be any news, however the presenter came on shot, looking away from the camera (looking at a monitor) and then said '..alright, here we go' etc. Was their any bloopers in the Anglia region? Presenter putting make-up on! Apparently STV had no local news, but the 1993 GMTV theme tune.
