Wonder if they put that in because Shed doesn't currently have any projects on ITV? I can't see them having had the balls to write that 18 months ago, even if the scandal had broken.

Good point, but maybe, possibly, GMTV/ITV would have seen the funny side?

Hmmm...it's been a major embarrassment for both ITV and GMTV so I'm not sure either would appreciate any more negative publicity. I dare say a number of lesser GMTV staff were watching tonight and thought "we bloody well deserved that!" But it's a testament to how far-reaching GMTV's breach of trust was that the affair has, after such a short time, found its way into popular culture.

Anyone else think that the apartment that they're using for Homes Live would make a good set for GMTV?

Those sofa-style sets do seem to be getting more common these days - hasn't Blue Peter moved into something similar? Mind you, rather than Homes Live why doesn't BBC1 try again to launch a more intelligent rival to This Morning?

Does anyone know what the comment was that they made an apology for at about 9:10 this morning on Enternatinment Today. I had only just switched over so missed what ever it was.

They basically said they were sorry if they "had caused anybody offence".

I was wondering what was said too!

They did - Good Morning with Anne and Nick, then later something like The Morning Show.

They've already got ITV taking that market, and perhaps wisely they've left it alone - because they'll never be able to come up with something that works so well.

I suppose you could say that's why we have The One Show as well - it's just This Morning + Nationwide.

I agree with that. ITV have it sewn up with Phillip and Fem, BBC One should offer the alternative as they do with daytime programming. Nobody wants the same but slightly different. Thus why five air Trisha at 10.30 and not in competition with Jeremy Kyle.

But BBC1 needs to do something with their mornings to make them accessible to people who have no interest in buying houses! The one gem they had - City Hospital - has been axed.

And don't forget, Anne and Nick ended over ten years ago. In that time, This Morning has become increasingly celebrity-obsessed and forgotten its lifestyle roots. So why not try again to come up with something aiming at a similar market but is perhaps more intelligent? Or move The Daily Politics to BBC1 Laughing

That is true, it's either selling or buying your house or selling/buying antiques.
Surely there's no reason that they can't put their dramas/quizshows into the morning slot and have an alternative in the afternoon, therefore not going head to head with this morning?

They need to put something on that isn't about Property or Antiques, that would be a start.

The only thing I watched on BBC One daytime in the last few months was a documentary series fronted by Richard Hammond about the Air Ambulance, otherwise I'm not interested in BBC One from 9.15am until 1.00pm.
