I echo the disappointment from other posts in this thread, I mean surely after 8:35 they could've dropped a few VT's and the constant plugging of the competition to make way for some banter between the remaining presenters and move the break around to give them an extra few minutes til 9:25 at the end.
Nevertheless, nice to have the whole crew in the studio, just a pity the last few shots were rushed with everyone bidding farewell on the sofa and the abrupt ending cutting to the Daybreak promo. Rolling Eyes

Compare to TV-AM's last day:

Today's GMTV was shameful. 0 effort for a show that has served for 17 years.

Is that Emma Crosby who is seated to the left of Andrew Castle in the clip above? I barely recognised her (if it is her). And no appearance by Lorraine Kelly in the final wrap? That's also a disappointment.

There is something disturbingly "melancholy" about that clip, actually. I genuinely got the impression that no-one wanted to be there at all and actually looked rather bored by it all. I also felt that they were genuinely struggling to stop from yawning!

I couldn't agree with you more! They spent more time saying goodbye to presenters who have left over the years! And that Daybreak advert airing just after just feels like a slap in the face!

A slap in the face to who? It's just one programme finishing and another one starting with the same production team working for the same company

It's worth remembering that the last thing TVam broadcast was an advert for GMTV and in that case it was a much more significant ending... a company closing down and many redundancies

It was a nice ending, as said I guess many of the Production staff are staying, it's a lot of on screen staff as we saw earlier are the ones who are going, but they were dignified about it. Although it's a shame they only crammed it into 2 minutes, but good to hear the 1993 music back for one last time.

I woke up at 6:00 to see if they were having anything special for the last day. No goodbye messages, no presenters returning, no discussion of it in the first hour, or nearly anything at all during the show. For the last ever show of GMTV, that takes the p***. The bosses at ITV obviously didn't want to make a song or dance about it. And then, straight after the end of the show, they rush to the Daybreak advert.

Surely the best thing is for business as usual, providing a service to their viewer on what is just another day?

With Daybreak launching on Monday the majority of the GMTV team will be too busy working on that and those left making GMTV would be a freelancers or temporary staff just brought in to cover the transition period. They'll just be getting on with their jobs with no emotional attachment to the brand

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how TV works nowadays.

GMTV is dead, long live GMTV.

I am slightly disappointed there wasn't some sort of montage of "best bits". There also seemed very little mention of GMTV ending throughout the rest of the programme too - I will bet a fair few people will wake up on Monday and be totally unaware.

I was very disappointed with the way they said farewell. I was hoping they'd have a highlights package, but at the end, it just looked like they didn't really care. 17 years of broadcasting, and all they do is say thank you. A bit of a bummer in my opinion.

I'm working on adding some screenshots of the last few moments to TV Live shortly.

At least Andrew, and to a lesser extent Richard and Claire deserved a bigger farewell. Ben got a highlights package when he left, and those three had been there for just as long as him.

Did Andrew and Kate come in the same year?, I'm sure it was 2000.

I'm guessing the reason that it didn't get the big send off like TV-AM is that GMTV was bought out by ITV, renaming it ITV Breakfast Ltd and the programme Daybreak, so in there eyes it's just a relaunch. Unless I'm wrong. For me though it's the end of an era having woken with GMTV all my life and it would have been nice to have a highlights package at the end, but it's not the end of the world.
