Don't think it's been mentioned before, Radio Times website has got Myleene Klass down for doing the last week of GMTV with Lorraine.

I thought they were jus not going to bother on the last week, and after reading this I wish they hadn't. Mylene is not a journalist or presenter, she is a failed pop star so why she gets all this work is beyond me.

Anyne heard anything about what Andrew Castle has lined up after GMTV? I know he is appearing on 71 degrees North but that was filmed back in Feb.

Much like Emma Bunton then...

In what way does she not qualify as being a presenter?

Andrew Castle was a tennis player, it hasn't stopped him from presenting GMTV for 10 years

What I mean by it is that the thought of something is horrible or grotesque.

Yes, whenever I think of a sports reporter filling in for such journalistic luminaries as Andrew Castle and Ben Shepard, I find that grotesque is an applicable word to describe the situation.

That is the reason why ITV deem him not suitable for the new, more serious newsy show.

Lorraine is a qualified and experienced journalist. Fiona, Ruth and Nina were suitable replacements for her IMO - a Spice Girl and former member of failed pop group Hearsay aren't.

In what respect did Hearsay 'fail'? I didn't follow their career that closely but I thought they did quite well. Most of the members of it are doing ok for themselves all these years on, Mylene in particular; you couldn't call her career 'failed' in any way

All you need to be a TV presenter is to be a good TV presenter, it's irrelevant what their previous job was - musician, sportsperson, comedian etc

Agreed. And let's face it - GMTV is hardly high on journalistic credibility right now. If it was Mylene going on Daybreak might be different.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but Ruth [Langsford] has no journalistic credibility, and has little more to offer than Mylene (though I find Ruth a good presenter, I'd like to add). Similarly Nina had no real experience of hosting a show like this before, so in a way she had as much to learn as Mylene or Emma did.

Ruth Langsford has got nearly 25 years experience of TV presenting in various different genres (including journalism), so I'm sure that counts for something.

I was aware of that - I was simply pointing out that she has little or no journalistic experience, which some could argue is needed for a programme like GMTV. There's no doubt Ruth is an experienced, very capable presenter, I was simply questioning whether she too was suitable for a programme like GMTV.

But, as someone else pointed out, someone like Ben Shepard or Andrew Castle similarly have little journalistic background, but both make/ made suitable hosts.

Ruth hosted her own chatshow, she has also been a newsreader. She has a lot more journalistic experience than a Spice Girl and Mylene!

Well I wasn't a big Hearsay fan such as yourself, but they had one hit record, then Kym Marsh walked, then they never had a hit record and then someone tried to shoot them in a motorway service station.
