Doesn't the set look fab today? The backdrop has so much more clarity and the new floor is a vast improvement. Shame they havent used any nice big crane shots and different camera angles!

I actually thought the set looked terrible this morning, the lighting was awful.

Really? I still think it looks better and more newsy in an odd way and I particularly liked the opening TOTH long shot, plus the news area is looking quite nice again. My only problem is that there is way too much white light on the presenters faces!

The set's function is not for news though, is it? GMTV is light entertainment and some current affairs.

I agree. I think the background especially looks a lot more life like, I know the majority if not everybody knows that it's a background, but surely the idea of having a background behind a windowed part of the set is to make people think that it's a window, and surely with pink shining all over the background that can never be achieved.

Also agree on the long shots being used, I wonder if the crew are enjoying the extra space rather than being cramped up.

Have they constructed just the sofa & news area with the weather being done on a CSO elsewhere in the studio? I presume the kitchen has been constructed somewhere other than the news area but is it within the same studio?

Have they had any performances in the studio over the past couple of days?

This picture via www.twitter.com/benshephard shows the main set is behind this shot (assumingly taken by Ben) also the kitchen right behind the floor manager and over the top of that is a green screen (my guess the weather?

This morning when handing over to Claire for the weather they seemed to talk as if she was just round the corner.

Has anyone got any caps or a video of the long shot?

And regarding the crew laughing, maybe they've set a few mics above them to try it out before Adrian and Christine come, because there's a lot of crew laughter on the One Show? Maybe just trying something new before Daybreak?

everything seems laid back though, the seriousness that was there at the appropriate times has seemed to of lowered, the timing seems to be very loose as well (I think anyway.)

So someone has just said to the crew "as homework, watch The One Show" and everyone came back with the idea of laughing. That's one of the thing I like on a TV programme, to know that a crew actually exists and can get in on some of the jokes, but if GMTV are testing to do it on Daybreak, and they do, then they're not gonna turn in to the slightly more serious/news orientated programme it wants to be. Get the This Morning crew in, they know how to have a laugh Razz.

Has this been mentioned before?

Right at the end after Penny says 'dedicated Michael Jackson fans have been queueing all night for concert tickets', etc, does Ben then say "Let's hope he's not ill."? Unfortunate sentence if he did.

That video has been posted before, but Ben says " I hope he's not ill", referring to the person dancing and not MJ.

Who then abused Ben on the Youtube comments. Pretty funny really.

The crew laugh when something is funny, it is as simple as that - don't over think it, it has nothing to do with Daybreak or The One Show. The new bosses want a more relaxed friendly programme and this is obviously coming across on screen. There is nothing staged, no extra mics. Simple.

Not really heard the crew laugh in the past though, it's nice to hear the crew's responses to things like that.
