GMTV will still remain a seperate franchise 'off air' ( wikipedia) what does this mean ?

mabye the actual legal name will still be GMTV? Proberbly a lot more bother than it's worth to change it when it's never going to be used.

It's already been confirmed that the legal name of the franchise holder will be ITV Breakfast Ltd.

In practical terms, at least as far as viewers in the ITVplc regions are concerned, Daybreak and Lorraine will simply be programmes on ITV1. The last remnants of breakfast as an entirely separate entity will be gone.

Please say this isn't the finalised logo!!! http://www.itv.com/daybreak/

Sorry if you guys have covered this already.

If that is the logo, I don't hold out much hope for the programme if that is the best they can come up with!!

Interesting to see what the regional Opts will be like, if it will just be an opt out to 'itv tyne tees & border news' or 'Daybreak tyne tees & border news' With a big purple logo on the plasma's in a yellow studio?!

yeah it has been talked about for about 3 pages! Very Happy

Whether it's the final logo or just a bit of a placeholder to go with the announcment of the new name we don't know. If it is the final logo, I think most people don't mind the font, but the colour isn't great altthough it could look good on screen. I'm surprised they didn't go with the "ITV yellow" myself! Very Happy

Think about it though, ITV1's new logo is more of a gold colour and could look lovely. They could do some sort of sunrise with the colours.

good idea! Although think back on my last comment I think I could be the final logo as the Media Guardian's article caption says "The new Daybreak logo overlaid on the GMTV logo." I suupose that it could be one of those types of logo's that is used in loads of colours.

All it means is STV and UTV have the right to opt out at 09:25? Presumably they don't have to have an actual end to programming under Ofcom's rules, too? So theoretically they could end the morning franchise mid-sentence should they want?

Yes, but would they be as stupid to do that? What benefit would that have to them or their viewers? None at all

Even if they did what would they do until the start of the next networked programme? Jeremy Kyle will start when ITV are ready for it.

im going to agree with most people and say Lorriane will finsh at 09.24 50 sec, then bang on 09.25 STV / UTV logo will appear welcome people to company and then follow on with an ad break.

I would have thought there would be an ad break leading up to 09:30 as there is at 10:30. However there's no need for Lorraine Kelly to come off air before 9:25, what would the other regions do with that extra 2 or 3 minutes?

I wasn't saying they will - or should - do that, but that if they were set on a 09:30 finish (or rather 09:30 start for the next programme) they could 'bully' STV and UTV into staying put until the programme was finished.
