HOW TO BE A REPORTER #29

When interviewing someone outside a bank, don't find someone who is a bit deaf! (6.30am report this morning made me chuckle)

I caught the last 5 minutes this morning where -ironically- Fiona appeared to be giving a lecture on customer trust. Rolling Eyes

I had to laugh when she said that: "when someone loses trust in a company, they can't really get it back." Laughing

I'm not a regular GMTV viewer, so I don't know if what I saw this morning is common practice, but the map they used for news of the fire in Blackpool amused me.

It basically showed the country with Blackpool highlighted... and all of England coloured red, with the word 'England' on it.

Do they always patronise their viewers in this way?

i'd like to know why the removed the studio web-cam, used to enjoy watching that in conjunction with the programme

I was appalled by Fiona Philips' interview of the Northern Rock guy the other morning - totally going against the grain of unbiased reporting. It was horrendous to watch and seemed to play into the hands of those people who have panicked over the whole thing.

Liked the way GMTV dealed with the technical hitch between bournemouth and london this morning, brought in Ben Shepard for half of the Newshour. Sue Jameson not so comfortable on the newsdesk...

That always comes up for a split second when GMTV begins at 6am.

Really? I guess that is coming from the last frame of ITV Early Morning News. I haven't seen this myself though. Anyway, this endcap says 'News Programme of the Year' so it must be from ITV Evening News and it had the GMTV dog on it so it must have been broadcast by GMTV.

It looks like it was just a case of GMTV getting their pictures (off air?) from ITV Evening News and forgetting/not bothering to edit out the ITN endcap.

The ITN logo popped up during football pictures, I assume the ITV Evening News closed the show with these sometime last week?

Did he really say this? Must have been too early for him.
