GMTV (1993 - 2010)

Most, if not all of those you see on screen will be contract rather than staff so redundancy doesn't apply.

As for the staff at GMTV, they are axing and replacing it, but the fact that the replacement is being made by the same company means that many roles won't be redundant (remember it's positions that get made redundant not staff). Except for those backroom jobs that were eliminated when GMTV as a stand-alone company ceased to be (accounts, HR, marketing, sales, admin) most jobs at GMTV will still be needed at ITV

If GMTV was forced to close down completely (as TVam did 17 years ago) then things would be different, although ITV might have felt the moral need to take on as many GMTV staff as they could

It has not been announced officially yet that she is leaving but she defintely will not be part of the new show. I am not sure why she has not been offered a reporter or correspondent role, or maybe she was and she did not want to accept a reduced role.

I give up now... I am so frustrated by the lack of communication from ITV to the fans of GMTV who want to know what on earth is happening! I cannot imagine what the presnters and team at GMTV must be going through wondering whether or not they have jobs and what on earth those jobs will entail come September. The viewers, presenters and GMTV team have been treated very badly by ITV and serves them right if it all goes t*ts up and nobody is interested in their new, newsy show!!! (Although I probably will be tuning in to see what it's like! Lol)

I should think most of the presenters might actually know whats going on, but I think ITV are releasing each presenters exit one by one so they can get more publicty for the new show. Axing them in the public eye seperately, rather than all together will get a lot more press in the long run.

The background staff you can feel sorry for, but the presenters you can't - with £150,000 + salery's their on I'm sure there'll be able to sleep at night!

For goodness sake. Why on earth should GMTV tell you who's leaving and staying? You really are ridiculous, and one of the reasons this thread is seen as a joke by most on the site.

"I'm afraid x is going to be made redundant. First priority: inform the fans on TV Forum."

Then we can create a ludicrous Digital Spy Article and spread rumours.

Because I am a viewer, I want to know what and who I will be watching - without viewers, they will have no show.

Please allow others to express their opinions in this forum - just because you do not agree does not give you the right to ridicule people. Open forum...open opinions!

Ben has tweeted that he was always leaving in July anyway - and is not making an "early" exit as reported.

You can find out come launch day. I don't think they will lose any viewers just on the basis of not informing people of who's leaving.

I also think a lot of decisions are still yet to be made and a lot of these are personal which should serve no interest to you unless they are made public at their own wish, not yours.

For once I fully agree with you. The headline hosts have been named, and in most cases when a new show is launched you'd never find out who the stand-ins are until you actually get to the point where the stand-ins are required.
