Just to add the news about Emma Crosby leaving from slightly more reliable paper.
Quote:
Emma Crosby was in the South of France yesterday attending a friend's wedding, but broke off from the celebrations to confirm that she is shortly to vacate the GMTV sofa.
Any news yet on whether Clare Nasir and Kirsty McCabe will survive the axe? Rumours before that they were going, but rumours also said Carla Romano would be made redundant from May onwards and she is still with the show (I also emailed her agent and she confirmed she is staying).

Well I shouldn't imagine Kirsty will be back for the launch and the forseeable future anyway, as apparently shes pregnant.
She's not due until December though, and they don't want to kick off a pregnancy scandal by not bringing her back! I'd say being pregnant, she is in the best position to make a return.

I suppose it does depend on when her maternity leave would start. At 6 months it would be very visable. But I was also thinking the same on your 2nd point - It wouldn't be great publicity for the new show to have a pregnancy scandal. Although I know they want to get red of most things GMTV - But as she's not a presenter I don't think they'd mind keeping her as much. It isn't as though she's that well known and being pregnant on top I expect her to stay.

Well if ITV were being more clear cut about this by axing and replacing - rather than rebranding and renaming - GMTV they'd be no arguments as they'd all be being made redundant. I guess though ITV getting out of redundancy packages by doing it this way.

yeah and I think the presenters at least are on say 1 year contracts,so they don't have to make them redundant, just let their contracts end. So rather than axing their just not renewing their contracts.

How would that work with Kirsty & Emma who began to work for GMTV in January 2009?
I'm surprised about Emma Crosby, I thought that she would make a good fill in/back up for Christine.

I'm just saying that I think there on a fixed contract, so don't have to make them redundant unless they want to end the contract early - like Adrian's signed a 4 year deal with ITV, so will expire in 2014.
I think Ben was the same - I think his contract expired a little while ago, but has volunteered to stay till the news show relaunches.

Its still not offical that Emma will be leaving, its only been reported in the papersthat she will be axed in coming weeks. I wouldn't count on this being true until its actually came from ITV.
