It was a technical problem, how could it be sorted and fast?

At least it proves that it is live and not recorded like other programmes get criticised for

I know that its live and i accept that there will be problems that cannot be avoided but i mean the general GMTV needs sorting. I personally like GMTV and watch every day but i am worried that if the general state doesnt improve then it may be lost. Sorry if my post seemed harsh.

Kates look this morning reminded me of Ronald MacDonald. GMTV really needs two areas of the studio at least ( i think most foreign breakfast shows have that), an area for hard news or just general news, then a sofa area for the lighter/discussion points.

I agree. I think that GMTV need to think outside the box. I was reading some of the previous posts from last year and earlier this year and the general consensus is that every time GMTV relaunch and give themselves a new look they always stay the same. Particularly the sofa area they don't seem to have any creativity.

Why would the old titles still be on the server?

Does anyone here watch The Sunday Programme? I am just wondering why the GMTV name and clock does not appear in the corner like on weekdays?

Probably because it isn't a work day so not many really need the clock to see the time. As for the general layout of GMTV, I think a complete overhaul is needed.

Set- Having the same set for 3 seperate shows (Newshour, Today and Sunday) just makes no sense. The set really begins to grate and it just feels like the same show but some sections more watered down than others. By all means keep the famous sofa in front of the screen, but even if it means just having different variations around the studio or even a seperate wall that is wheeled on inbetween shows would just make it feel a little more unique. Aren't they due a new set by now anyway?

Graphics- The graphics package is currently allover the place and inconsistent, because the new sun is used in the opening titles of GMTV Today, but the old one is still used in breakbumpers. Also, they keep showing the old opening titles. An easy way to go back to this would be just to use the old titles permanently, or get every graphic recreated.

Presenters- Its currently a bit allover the place with one set of presenters on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday then a different set on Thursday and Friday. It would make more sense to alternate Andrew & Fiona, Kate & Ben over alternating weeks, similar to what they do with the weather and Andrea and Clare. Andrea has proven herself a good host so she should be allowed to fill in for Fiona or Kate rather than having the one that should be off or Penny.

Format- There is something still good about the format, but to me it seems that they repeat the same things over and over and over. They just need to come up with more news stories, or analyse those they are repeating to fill a bit of time so there is less repetition.

I'd like to see the return of an 8.30 news update. They only show the 8.20 headlines when they feel like it, very inconsistent.

If I remember, somebody told me before that the SP is a pre-record or at least parts of the show.

I would have thought that, although I'm not surprised that GMTV have binned it off, they got rid of The Review and they don't promote TSP either, plus with it being on at 6.00am it's hardly going to get loads of viewers.

It was good when Alastair Stewart used to present it, but that was a long time ago, Mike Morris presented in this slot for a year or so aswell in GMTV's early days.

Last time I saw it, the first half was a review of some book on an ethical issue or something equally box ticking. This was recorded

Half way through they reviewed the papers and talked about politics, this was live

You can usually tell on the handovers to and from the news

Remember GMTV has to fulfil all the public service requirements like Network ITV. So 5 mins of religion a week at 6am on Sundays probably covers it

Not that different to the weekday show, really - just a slightly different version of the music and titles - people doing sunday-ish stuff...
